Another factor not mentioned here is that the greater the percentage of highly variable generation (wind), the more difficult it becomes to maintain steady voltage on the system. At some point, it becomes literally impossible.

Very the voltage too much, and you ruin a lot of your customers electronic devices, and disrupt critical and dangerous industrial processes.

People have no idea how complicated maintaining that balance is.

Electrical devices are designed to run on smooth power. We get that from coal powered and nat gas powered plants. This process works and has worked well for decades. But our do-gooder govt types have to come in and screw up the process.
