I’m not sympathetic to the teacher low pay argument. When I lived in Ct, I saw teacher pay skyrocket over 100k on the basis that education achievement would improve. It didn’t. It got worse. The only thing we got for the gigantic increase in property taxes was that teachers retired to Fla towing 28 foot sail boats.

With you on that one. There's no basis for teacher pay other than an arbitrary baseline. They can't measure it on performance without losing 4/5ths the staff.
