I did some of this research myself. In my lab, we conducted a study with 1,880 subjects. They completed a standard survey to measure their sense of well-being, which captures the feeling of being happy, safe, calm, content, in-control, and grateful. Then, they spent 5 minutes in one of three conditions: reading popular funny tweets, reading Donald Trump's Twitter feed, or reading tweets with cute pictures of dogs. Then, they took the well-being survey again so we could measure the change. All three conditions saw changes in well-being, but dog pictures delivered the biggest positive difference.
We found that well-being significantly declined after reading Trump's tweets—and this was true both for people who supported Trump and those who did not. Though this was not the focus of the study, it was likely because his tweets turned subjects' focus to upsetting issues. If you supported Trump, you were mad at the things he was mad about and if you didn't support him, you were upset by his statements. In the other two conditions, well-being increased, but it went up significantly more after the dog condition. Dog pictures were the most powerful option for getting a quick well-being boost.

What happens when you look at cats...bears....elephants
Yes. Makes you realize how mentally and emotionally unstable those people are.
Sure, I get angry at a variety of things in life, but I keep it them in context.
Those people are emotionally fragile with little to no impulse control.
It is no wonder most mass murderers and mass shooters are Leftists.
It’s like gratuitous climate change remarks. They just can’t help themselves.
So, the children are now pretending that they are conducting research while they project their own insanity on others. Cute! It reminds me of a couple of “PhD scientist/medical researchers” on this forum who are still pushing the “jabs” while pretending to be highly educated and informed.
Even conservatives like to evade reality - seeing the man behind the curtain upsets them.
Amazing how biases can work their way in to articles as well are forum replies.
I imagine that cat pics make things worse and elephant images would improve the memory
You're welcome...
Weather or not!
Although I agree about dog pics giving us relaxation, the article just had to add the standard smarmy low IQ jabs.
So, here goes...Richard Feynman had a hierarchy of the sciences:
Physics is applied mathematics. Chemistry is applied physics. Biology is applied chemistry. Psychology is a bunch of witch doctors.
All y’all can settle for cute dog pictures. I still rely on the Swedish study that says that looking at women’s bare breasts on a daily basis, is good for a man’s mental health. It was posted on FreeRepublic many years ago, and it stuck with me as an optimal means of happiness and health. That researcher really knows of what she speaks.
Now do Biden's tweets and speeches. Nobody likes hearing from politicians. Trump does have the advantage of being amusing, which may offset the decline if one doesn't hate the guy.
Stupid Cat Videos are the Best !
.
Forget ‘Grumpy Cat’.
TDS is a mental illness.
Increasingly, so is dog ownership.
Very true
LOL, typical that these lefties turned an article about the calming effects of looking at photos of puppies into an anti-Trump rant, they can't help themselves.
That said, dogs have certainly helped my mental health (after the loss of two loved ones in very quick succession).
