MrBeast is facing backlash after helping build 100 wells in Africa.
The YouTube personality hopped took to Twitter on Friday to tease the project. “We’ve spent over 8 months working on tomorrow’s video and it’s the greatest thing I’ve ever done!" he wrote.
On Saturday, MrBeast dropped the video, which features his team traveling across Africa in an effort to provide fresh water for those without access. The clip sees the YouTuber bringing water to a hospital in Zimbabwe and a school in Kenya, in addition to other sites in Uganda, Somalia and Cameroon.
It didn't take long before MrBeast's latest endeavor resulted in controversy, as social media trolls blasted the YouTuber for being disingenuous.
MrBeast addressed the backlash in a tweet, saying he thinks he's "gonna get canceled" over the video.

Even if he does have a too high opinion of himself, so what?
This is like the US schools that attack home schooling and private schools. Home schools show to everyone just how terrible public schools are. This guy has shown how terrible African govts are.
The Africans just had their noses rubbed in something. Or think they did.
Providing wells is such a worthy project that REALLY impacts on lives right at the level of daily life in the villages
And the cost is really marginal compared to the huge expensive infrastructure
projects that indebt entire countries for a generation or more
This is almost as offensive as when he paid for 1,000 people to receive cataract surgery.
He’s doing what they will never do. Helping people they will never help.
Having safe, potable water and then sewage containment and treatment are prime characteristics of “Civilization”.
Too bad the USA is devolving.

Never heard of him, but he sounds like a good example of what YooTube could accomplish.
About forty years ago PBS NOVA (I think) had a program on drilling wells in Africa. the people loved it!
Then the pump broke and they were back to carrying water. The pump was an easy fix but the men refused to do it as THEY WERE WARRIORS and pump work was women’s work. The crews who drilled the wells now had to teach the women how to repair the pumps.
Probably 99% of the complaints are coming from white liberals.
My 13 yo grandson introduced me to his channel last yr. I’d never heard of him before that.

Who never has to depend on a woman or girl walking miles every day to fetch clean water for his use
Reminds me of 2016 when that guy traveled to the inner cities the country to clean up trash. All of the media attacked him for saying he was making minorities look bad
Yeah it’s just showing how basic decency and almost minimal effort can really improve lives and yet some groups just sit and do nuffin

He makes astronomical money from YouTube. I don’t what that number is but trust me, it would stun you.
I just read that he has $500 mil accumulated.
FU money could be way fun, especially as a widely viewed. “Entertainer”.
He could enter the political realm and be the next Trump.
I went to the local Safeway to get some food stuff today. In the checkout line I saw a display thingy selling MrBeast chocolate chip cookies, in very commercially acceptable packaging.

Moral: Do not attempt to help Africans. Ever.
And guess what? They're now all leaving Africa for Western countries.
