Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz blasted former US President Barack Obama after Obama called for an end to “Israeli occupation”.

Speaking to Fox Business in an interview, Dershowitz said, "I think he always had a deep hatred of Israel in his heart. He hid it very well. He called me to the Oval Office and he said to me, 'Alan, you've known me for a long time. You know I have Israel's back.' I didn't realize he meant to paint a target on it."

Dershowitz’s commentary came after he claimed that any relationship with Obama is "over" following Obama’s onstage statements about the Israel-Hamas war.

Dershowitz, in response, accused Obama of lying "through his teeth" about what the former President called an "unbearable" occupation of Gaza.
"To compare those disputed claims with the rapes, beheadings, burnings, kidnappings, it's just obscene and despicable," Dershowitz told Fox Business. "And what it does is it lends support to those students basically, who are saying, ‘Well, what Hamas really did was not so bad... It was in response to the occupation.’"
"Although he said that the attacks by Hamas are not justifiable," Dershowitz added, "he made them justifiable because if life really is unbearable, as it's not, then you can do anything you want."
"What he did was contribute to the risks to not only Israelis, but Americans, because it's coming to a theater near you," Dershowitz continued. "If Hamas is not stopped in its tracks from doing the terrorist acts, they will bring them to the United States."

Clinton practically bet his Presidency on the Oslo accords. Arafat was the most feted ‘diplomat’; he visited the White House more often than any other ‘world leader’ during Clinton’s two terms. Clinton didn’t get the Nobel Prize for it - Arafat and Rabin did. Arafat stabbed Clinton in the back at the last minute by refusing to sign the final draft and launching the second Intifada. Arafat couldn’t sign it for a variety of reasons - he probably would have been killed; he had no solution to resettle refugees, there is no room for them in Gaza and the people of the West Bank don’t want Gazans or undereducated Lebanese descendants of refugees moving in.
Clinton told Bush when Bush was sworn in to “forget about the Palestinians” in so many words. Clinton wasted enough energy and saw it was pointless. Then Bush was socked with 9/11 and it wasn’t a priority.
Obama did nothing. He got the Nobel Peace Prize just for being elected, in the first months of his Presidency when he had accomplished nothing at all. Then he let Hillary destabilize the entire region.
Trump tried to, and partially succeeded, in doing an end run around the Palestinians. He was the first President to realize that the Palestinians cannot be helped until they help themselves first. So he sent Jared Kushner to the Middle East to negotiate the Abraham Accords basically under the premise that these Arab countries were allowing the tail to wag the dog by tying their futures to the Palestinians who for the most part have no leadership that can effectively manage the territories on which they live. But at the same time, Kusher came with a $50 billion opening offer for development of the entire region - Gaza, West Bank, Egypt, Jordan, Israel... and possibly others (Lebanon, Syria) could have come in on that had the Palestinians embraced it. But again, the Palestinians have no leadership capable of signing and enforcing any deal at any time. In the end Trump got some peace treaties and no large scale deal but it was a success in that it broke the Palestinian cause from the “Arab cause” since each Arab country ultimately, after 75 years of nothing gained, had to prioritize themselves ahead of these ragtag militias and terrorists that rule over various cities and towns inside the Palestinian Authority.
Yeah, it probably does suck to be a Palestinian living under Palestinian rule either in Gaza or West Bank. It doesn’t help that self-made or appointed agitators keep instigating violence. But the Palestinians have to decide what they want and how to get it. Expecting others to do it for them is why and how they are in the situation they find themselves today.
Someone else remarked that in the entire Arab world, there is only one democracy (Lebanon). And that place is a mess - largely because of what Arafat did decades ago. All the other countries are kingdoms or dictatorships. One has to wonder how to democratize any kind of Palestinian self-rule government. Lebanon can barely hold on to a democracy due to destabilizing elements like the PLO, and since lost about 25% of their country to Iranian proxies.
