Far-Right Icon Predicted to Win Dutch Elections
NYTimes ^ | 11/22/2023

The Netherlands on Wednesday took a startling turn in national elections with the potential to ripple through Europe, as Dutch voters threw most support behind the party of a far-right icon with an incendiary reputation who had campaigned on an anti-immigrant platform.

Geert Wilders, a political provocateur long known for his anti-Islam and anti-Europe stances, appeared poised to come out significantly ahead with the most parliamentary seats, according to some early results and exit polls, which were expected to be dependable, especially given the margin of victory they indicated.

“The Dutch voter has spoken,” Mr. Wilders said in a speech on Wednesday night, declaring himself the winner. “The voter has said, ‘We are fed up.’” He added that he wanted to return “the Netherlands to the Dutch.”

If the preliminary results hold up, the Netherlands will be at the threshold of uncertain new political terrain after 13 years of stewardship by Prime Minister Mark Rutte, a stalwart of Dutch politics and a dependable presence on the E.U. stage.

Sorry for the paywall post. I hope someone can shed light on this election for me. Looks like the world is making a right.

<< He added that he wanted to return “the Netherlands to the Dutch.” >>

That’s going to involve a whole lot of citizenship revocations and deportations. Hope it happens.

How come the people trying to turn out the lights and eliminate one-third of Dutch farms are never “far left”?

Why are the people who are trying to keep farms going and keep the lights on “far right”?

It’s rather annoying to me that anything NOT left of Stalin is considered “Far-Right” to the press.

Geert Wilders is not far right.

He basically is of the opinion that Holland should not destroy all their farms to prevent "climate change", should not allow "refugees" who refused to assimilate to stay in their country, thinks that madrassas are bad things and that the EU is just France and Germany bossing everyone around.

None of this is far right or even right. It is just reality.

“...anything NOT left of Stalin is considered “Far-Right” to the press.”

Would make an excellent tagline.

Not really.

Holland, like any reasonable country, is jus sanguinis not jus soli .

If at least one of your parents is not Dutch, you are not Dutch. You can nationalize but it not that easy.

Unfortunately, this is not a big a victory as it might sound.

Wilders will have a plurality in the Dutch House of Representatives (37 seats out of 150). But that’s far from a majority.

Analysts are saying that the other parties will probably unite against Wilders, and deny him the prime ministership.

Yeah. It always confuses me when people act like wanting to keep your food production going, not be flooding your country with people who will refuse to assimilate and not wanting to be pushed around by other nations is some how “far right”. It is just normal.

“For Marieke Schunselaar, a 24-year-old voter, climate was also the biggest issue this campaign. She also said that she was surprised by a seeming rise of populist parties — such as Mr. Wilders’s Party for Freedom and the Farmer Citizen Movement, which swept regional elections this year, something she called a “worry for many young voters.”

Scary thought, living in a country with electricity, less terrorists, and beef. Poor girl will probably need professional help.

Of cpurse. to the new yawke liberals, there is no such thing as a “far left icon”.
They praised Stalin, so anything to the right of him is an extremist.

It’s their world now and these young folks will be leading the way. Too bad the history they were taught was so slanted that they will have to repeat the past and fight wars that have already been fought.
