Not only that, but it’s also the loss of liability where the police could lose everything if sued. IMO
Sounds like it’s time for the communities that ring New York City invest in a border wall. Restrain all who want out of NYC who want to bring their criminality into their cities.

The police still have qualified immunity just like all government employees do. If they are sued in court and lose then the city will pay an judgment due. Otherwise there would be no government employees at all. The danger for them is criminal liability. Someone OD’s on opioids and they arrest them. The person dies of drug abuse then the prosecutor is going to criminally charge the police officer. Then they end up losing their career, pension and go to prison.
Officers typically work 20 years or more to collect their full pension, which can equate to 50% of their final average salary.

They certainly don’t need police when the prosecutor is strenuously neutralizing their efforts. Crime and a degraded standard of living is what the Democrats want and they’re making it happen.
Maybe the illegals will take over the ‘policing’ along with fleecing NYC.

Smart cities will start outsourcing security to private companies which will be hiring the best people without DEI nonsense.
There’s a video on YouTube of a guy talking to a young NYPD officer. The cop could barely talk in coherent sentences. He sounded dull, mentally challenged.
Perhaps this cop is a rare outlier. One can only hope so.
