Hamas is a rather typical terrorist hierarchy.
The people you describe, the wealthy and powerful…are the top tier.
They run the movement like a business.
The next tier are the intellectuals, the managers of the message, the true believers. Encouraging the masses to stay angry because anger can be leveraged as a powerful tool of social control. Recruiting fodder. Elevating those with special skills ( like logistical planning, social media manipulation, cyber skills, weapons training, bomb making) to their tier. Grooming the lesser skilled others to fight kill and die ( themselves…not so much. They are too valuable to the cause). These are the uni students from privileged families, the graduates from engineering schools and science labs, and skilled psychos that simply enjoy the thrill of planning killing and the means of doing so.
In order to succeed, the organization must find or create sociopaths and psychopaths to carry out the unnatural acts of killing innocents and dehumanizing them as necessary or worthy deaths for the cause.
The bottom tier is “ the street”. The useful idiots being led by slogans blasted from megaphones. The breeding ground for foot soldiers equipped and sent out with knives, bombs, guns…to kill. The crowds grown to parade the streets, storm soft social and political targets, spreading the message. As we see in Israel some of the recruits are young teens of 13 to 17, the graduates of rock throwing that begins with small children. The Palestinian “children” are many older teens convicted in court of attempted murders…being released in exchange for kidnapped Jewish toddlers and kids under 12, and elderly women
Thank you for your excellent resume of what Hamas represents (as a typical terror organisation) and how it functions according to their hierarchy.
Even though Hamas have offices and sleeper cells all over the planet I really hope Israel will manage to eradicate the group - in Gaza at least.
