I taught for decades in an urban school. It was better than the one in the video. But not that much better. I survived by bobbing and weaving until I had enough seniority to teach the better kids.

And I will say this. Even in my worst classes, maybe 85% of the kids were good. They had attendance problems. But when they were there, they tried.

0h, but that other 15%. They were constantly disruptive. Some had criminal records, including murder. In the old days (before the year 2000) principals would side with the teachers, and try to maintain order.

Then came the woke administrators. Teachers were always wrong. Students were always right.

Any young person who wants to “make a difference” by going into urban education today is dangerously naive.

and there lies the problem. The teacher spends most of the time dealing with the disruptive ones and the other 85% get short changed.

You paid your dues for sure.

I always remember this article from the very early 2000s. It sounds like a nightmare. I don’t think I could do it for $20 mill.
