Electric is fine batteries suck end of sublect

Okay. Batteries do suck. Change of subject - battery powered tools. Electric cord attached tools are powerful. Battery powered tools, have problems. I've had problems with battery powered tools dying; as they age they don't hold energy for long. Newer batteries are getting better, but still need more improvement.

I've got a portable bandsaw tool that quickly goes dead while cutting rebar and angle iron. So I've been converting old portable power packs with newer cells and adapters, trying to convert all the brands (Craftsman, etc.) to run with DeWalt power packs. Swapping out 1.2 volt cells with 3.7 volt li-ion cells. Can't see paying over $100 to replace a battery pack when I can rebuild it for $15 (getting 3.7 volt 6800mAh batteries for $2 each).

Technology getting better, not quite there yet for the masses in regards to batteries.

I have a Hyundai Ioniq6. It weighs 4000 pounds. I also have a BMW i3. It’s probably 3000 pounds. The Ioniq6 will go 330 miles on a charge. I live in Florida. Down here, they work better. I love the Ioniq6. Cost was 50k. No subsidy. What powers my car? Coal and nuclear reactors. I Put 50k on the BMW and 10K on the Ioniq6. 0 problems. Ioniq6, best car I have ever owned. solid, fast, put together perfectly.

These cars are not for everyone. A communist leading a communist party in the USA has decided that they are, like it or not. Marxist thugs.

I spend zero minutes at a gas station with my EV. It has a range of 330 miles. I have had it for 6 months. I have charged it about 5 times on the road. For some, it’s a big deal. Not for me. I have 330 mile range every morning. I normaly use 15 to 100 miles in a day. Recharge in my garage.

“Some 25% are broken continually.”

I keep reading that they are a favorite target for low-lifes to steal the cables for the copper.

When I think of “car problem,” I think of mechanical and electrical failures of the vehicle.

I suppose you could lump crappy “refueling time” in as a “car problem.” It sure doesn’t make it a reliable or practical hauler for moderate or long trips.

That’s a core technology problem. That’s how it operates. That’s the nature of the beast.

I count “car problems” as mechanical and electrical failure.”

But, yes, bigger picture, that’s a major problem (shortcoming) with EVs.

“wasting 25 minutes of my life”

I wasted 45 to 50 minutes today fixing password problems on one mobile app and my Amazon account. Seems like every day I have to screw around to keep all the crud working. The web, apps, computers, phones become a huge time suck.

I was reminiscing today about black desk phones with 100% reliable dial tone and great voice quality as well as getting nice, hand-written letters in the mail.

I'm 80. I still have my old land line. I love sitting on my couch and talking to friends. It's a time to relax. My 3 children have all tried to convert me.

The only thing that I might get is a button...for when I fall and can't get up. That's from the wise son.

Still no thing a ma jig with apps...

What I would love...a car where you have to roll down the windows...a car with the little side vents....I'm sooooo old.

We had a ‘66 Pontiac Bonneville. There were pull-knobs down by your knees that opened air vents in the footwell. At freeway speeds, the air coming through would almost blow you out of the seat! I loved that air blast down on my legs (no air conditioning then).

An EV motor and drive train are still “engines.”

Home to more than 65 percent of the world’s known reserves, could Latin America’s “Lithium Triangle” formed by Argentina, Bolivia and Chile become the Saudi Arabia of the 21st century?
