Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) lamented the failed attempt to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Abbott appeared on Sunday Morning Futures to react to the news that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was backing off her push for an accelerated impeachment inquiry into Mayorkas. As a border-state governor, Abbott has been critical of Mayorkas's performance.
"For one, I am surprised that it failed," Abbott said. "Because if ever this was anybody impeachable, it would be Mayorkas for two reasons: One, he’s failed to do his job in the Executive Branch; he’s failed to execute the laws of the United States of America. That unto itself is an impeachment offense. But also because of his repeated lies to the United States Congress about the safety and security of the border. He deserves to be immediately removed from office."
Abbott has previously criticized Mayorkas for denying that the southern border is open. Meanwhile, Customs and Border Protection saw almost 241,000 immigrants attempt to cross the border at ports of entry in October, which was a decline from September's historic record of almost 270,000. Over 10 million immigrants have reportedly entered the country illegally since Biden took office. It is the most recorded in that amount of time of any administration.
In Texas alone, law enforcement has made over 36,000 criminal arrests of migrants, with 90% resulting in felony charges. Some 449 million lethal doses of fentanyl have also been recovered by the state's Department of Public Safety and the National Guard in their efforts to secure the border.
Texas has apprehended some 485,700 illegal immigrants since March 2021, according to Abbott's office.

But no one is unimpeachable.
What’s troubling is that Mayorkas is committing his crimes with the full approval and, I suspect, at the direction of one Joseph R. Biden. Any impeachment inquiry must therefore include an investigation of POTUS as well.
Republicans cant impeach Myorkas, but happy to get rid of Santos.

This entire administration is unimpeachable....by the time anyone gets around to it they’ll all be out of office - which of course was their plan.
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.
Why is the Constitution always the last solution tried, if at all.
The boarder states should declare that an invasion is in progress and petition the Federal Government for support in repelling the invasion.
If Biden refuses to send the Army to repel the invasion declare the Federal Government in default of its obligations under the Republic and secede.
Impeach them both. They deserve it.
The Senate won’t convict ... but even if it did “President Harris” would be a lame duck (only Willie actually likes her, and that’s for only one thing), and the democrats would have to come up with another candidate.
Mayorkas is brain dead. Somebody should have given the boy a copy of his job description before he was allowed to change lanes. He’s an idiot and clueless about what the hell he is supposed to be doing.
Putting a Latino to guard the southern border is a like having a thief guard a bank.

Respectfully to Greg Abbott, I think that corrupt Congress is way more “impeachable” than Mayorkas.
But since Congress cannot be expected to impeach and remove itself, it's up to us Democratic and Republican Trump-supporting patriots to effectively "impeach and remove" all incumbent lawmakers up for reelection by primarying them in 2024, except for MTG, Gaetz and Company, Jordan (and others?).
After all, Mayorkas isn't helping to bankrupt the country by helping to pass unconstitutional taxing and spending bills.

How can you impeach Mayorkas when all he is doing is following the instructions of this administration?
That was kind of a dumbass idea. Mayorkas should have done what Jeff Sessions did and recused his goatsmellin’ ass. The La Raza gang should not be guarding the American border.
That’s right. The dumbass hasn’t a clue about what he is supposed to be doing. I know that’s normal for Federal Employees but guarding the American border is kind of important. An American should have that job.
