Unlike with the United States, the president of Ireland doesn’t have a lot of actual power. Lots of ceremonial power, little actual power.

Not that Mr. McGregor asked me, but he needs to organize a political party and then get himself elected prime minister. That’s where the real power is.

And Mr. McGregor needs to be quick about it. Ireland is slipping into some sort of weird pro-Muslim fascist state.

correct...but....it is a great bully pulpit. it would be a perfect fit for McGregor...would allow him to rally the Irish people

Shoot... our president doesn’t have a whole lot of power either! All it takes is one judge to overturn anything.
