The EPA and CA will block it.
The Salton Sea area is already a train wreck.

Right. These scum have no problem with African boys mining the stuff in slavery conditions but God forbid we dig holes in the middle of a polluted desert.

There are all manner of legal and environmental hurdles for mining operations in this country. But when it involves resource extraction that supports the Leftists’ agenda approvals (and exceptions) will be expedited.

Boy, talk about pollution! Mining and refining for this is extremely dirty, to say nothing of the amount of energy required.

Don’t forget the ‘Endangered Species Act’. If some kind of rare sand flea is found in the area, in-depth studies will have to be done. We must protect the sand flea!

This could take years to complete, if competed at all.

The Salton Sea is an artificial lake anyway, was created in the early 1900s by storm flooding. And it is slowly becoming a dead lake, with only rainwater being a source of filling the lake.

You gotta be totally clueless to think that any such can be opened in the state of CaCaLand. Newsome sold out to the treehuggers years ago when he blamed the power companies for wildfires. They will never allow it.

This will be as much a success for the US as the BulletTrain. The latter made loads of politicos rich — and screwed the citizens. A mine will be the same.

I thought the lithium for batteries would probably be on the downslide now that EVs apparently are...????

I don’t doubt it. Earthworks, Comite Civico del Valley, and Imperial Valley Equity and Justice Coalition are already complaining about the potential impact on the environment.

It’s been a long-neglected lake, but on December 8, the Biden Administration gave California $70 million to “speed up restoration of the lake, improving conditions for wildlife, water quality, and surrounding communities.” Of course, they did. Then they can come in and forbid extracting the lithium.
