A public menorah lighting has been canceled by an arts festival in Williamsburg, Virginia, over concern that observing the Jewish holiday would amount to endorsing Israel’s policies in its war against the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas in Gaza.
The Virginia Gazette News reported:
A menorah lighting was scheduled for the 2nd Sundays Art and Music Festival on Dec. 10. Each month from March to December, the community event hosts artisans, street performers and food vendors, and Jewish leaders were told that the board was not comfortable allowing the lighting at the festival.

Yes, it has that libtard William And Mary college in walking distance. Went there a few months ago. All of the tour guides in the historic buildings were college age woke girls from the College. Constantly inserting their little snarky non-historic opinions.
I always wanted to visit there.
Now, not so much.
The Menorah is a lot older than this current conflagration.
Williamsburg isn’t hiring very intelligent people.
Are they allowing pro-Palestinian/Hamass events? Just wondering how much of this is one-sided.
I’ve been to Colonial Williamsburg numerous times, I can’t even count. As most things in this once great nation, it’s gotten progressively “progressive”. The last time we went, we were treated to the re-enacted George Mason bemoaning the fact that queers weren’t equal citizens. Wish I was kidding. Besides that, a foreigner would think that the entire colony was only possible due to women and slaves — white men were no where to be found. Sick and sad.
I’ve begun to hate the term ‘progressive’.
In its original meaning, it was a useful and meaningful term.
Now it seems to just mean a retrogression - or plain stupidity.
And the religious bias they are instead showing?

They cancel the Hanukkah/Menorah lighting and somehow hope they can appear to “not choose sides”? Seriously?

Yup. Went there at the end of summer. Much of the historic “discussion” was conjecture and opinion, andcrarely focused on the famous individual. We won’t pay again to visit. Which - the streets are public, you can walk by the buildings for free….you just can’t go inside unless you pay.

What do Jews in Williamsburg, or anywhere outside of Israel, have to do with the Israeli conflict with Hamas? Nothing at all. This is straight-up, unvarnished anti-Semitism.
I didn’t care who made it into a ‘showplace’. I just wanted to see the history, the architecture, the antiques, how people did things and lived, etc.
If 'pro' is the opposite of 'con' what is the opposite of progress?
