Today, California was notified that the Biden-Harris Administration is awarding $6 billion to the state to build high-speed rail, investing in the whole system – San Francisco, Los Angeles and the Central Valley, creating connectivity north, south and with our neighbors to the east.
California High-Speed Rail Authority will receive nearly $3.1 billion for construction in the Central Valley, supporting the overall end goal of connecting San Francisco to Los Angeles. Another important rail project, Brightline, will receive $3 billion to connect Los Angeles to Las Vegas with 80% of the project’s construction in California benefiting the state’s economy and labor market.
“California is delivering on the first 220-mph, electric high-speed rail project in the nation,” said Governor Gavin Newsom. “This show of support from the Biden-Harris Administration is a vote of confidence in today’s vision and comes at a critical turning point, providing the project new momentum.”
The $3.1 billion for California High-Speed Rail Authority is the single largest grant for the program and comes from President Biden’s historic Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
High-speed rail has created 12,000 union jobs to date and will provide affordable and clean transportation across the state.
Money we don’t have, spent on a train that will be underutilized and go nowhere, that will probably never be finished anyway (not in a reliable or usable form) that will use billions of dollars we have, taken from our great grandchildren, and thrown into a great black hole that funnels those borrowed dollars into the pockets of people who hate this country.
They should throw in an extra $1000 dollars for shovels and labor. That way California can hire some Mexicans who can dig a big hole to dump the money into. You’ll basically get the same outcome without all the wasted effort.
Another Black Hole along with Ukraine......................
The train from nowhere to nowhere for the unions.
Not this project was canceled? Wasn’t the federal government trying to claw back the funds?
There are going to be a few new billionaires in California.
This makes me so mad I could spit!
6 Billion to people who will just pocket it with absolutely no benefit to the public. 6 Billion for a wall? SURE. Makes sense. 6 Billion for infrastructure in my rural state would go a LONG ways. 6 Billion is SIX THOUSAND million!

The toilet’s gonna get clogged flushing that much money down it at one time!
We’re gonna need a bigger toilet!
The Constitution doesn’t say that Congress can give money to state or local governments. That spending is unconstitutional.
Well-stated.
Heck of a money laundering scheme. These guys don’t think small.
California has already blown tens of billions of dollars on high speed rail.
They were working with the French, but the French bailed because corruption was so bad in California.
They went and built lines in North Africa.
It’s that bad
CONgre$$? House?
Total waste of money, and Biden has no need to give the money to California, because he is likely to get California’s vote in 2024 anyway. My GOP friends there know they are a minority.
Who is in big hurry to go from one full of crap city to another full of crap city in California?
Wire the main office; tell them I said: “OW!!!!”
Mongo, why would Hedley Lamarr care about where the choo-choo goes?
Don’t know. Mongo only pawn in Game of Life.
