Kate Cox, the plaintiff in the case, will be authorized to obtain an abortion once the temporary restraining order is signed Thursday
Travis County judge on Thursday ruled a woman in Texas can obtain an emergency medically indicated abortion, marking the first such intervention in the state since before Roe v. Wade was decided 50 years ago.
After that landmark U.S. Supreme Court case that guaranteed a federal right to an abortion was overturned in 2022, Texas instituted a near-total abortion ban, with few exceptions including life-threatening complications.

If the medical records are accurate this is the right decision.
Tough situation. I do hope abortions will not be another version of medical marijuana cards, oxycontin and Society Security disability claims where doctors are all too willing to sign off on but I am not optimistic.
If multiple, independent tests confirm Trisomy 18, then it is the right decision. Heartbreaking for the couple.
This retired NICU nurse has no comment on this idiocy other than it is indeed idiocy.
why right
Why would a Dallas couple have their case heard in Travis County (far left Austin)? Forum shopping.
Look for these kinds of cases to come out of the woodwork. No doubt they will bus them in.
It sounds like her body is already trying to miscarry. While what is normally medical intervention to prevent miscarriage to a standard level in society is normally appropriate, simply not providing this on the next trip to the emergency room might terminate the situation through what used to be known as a “spontaneous abortion.”
From the Cleveland Clinic website:
How common is Edwards syndrome (trisomy 18)?
Edwards syndrome (trisomy 18) occurs in an estimated 1 out of every 5,000 to 6,000 live births. The condition is more common during pregnancy (1 out of every 2,500 pregnancies), but most (at least 95%) fetuses don’t survive full term due to complications from the diagnosis, so pregnancies can end in miscarriage or babies are stillborn.
When is Ken Paxton going to file an appeal?
How is the mother at risk by refraining from aborting her child?
This Austin liberal rag could elaborate on how the pregnancy causes threat to the patient
It doesn’t
“” How is the mother at risk by refraining from aborting her child?”
She’s not. Not any more so than any other L&D.
She sure wore the witch outfit
This is how the system is supposed to work. Not sure why this is the big deal that it seems to have become.
Something stinks with this story. The picture of the smirking woman with the hand on her belly is weird. Irregardless if this is legit, this is how the left gets around issues even in so called red states. The so called rare abortions will become common with these idiotic judges opinions.
Why the eagerness to kill the child? He or she will die in God's time, probably in less than a week after birth.
Loss of ability to carry another fetus to term seems to qualify as "...serious risk of substantial impairment of a major bodily function". This case appears to qualify under the existing Texas law.
