Insecurity???
Is that their new word for too many illegals????
“The line of cars waiting stretches out around the building and down the street out of sight.”
The question is how many of those vehicles cost 50K and up....
I have zero sympathy for folks who own or lease luxury vehicles and then complain about their need for food.
They’ve got to make payments on their new tattoo and can’t afford food.
Well those people could use a little food insecurity.
Yes, we have really noticed the jump in the grocery shopping the last two trips. I am not sure where the hit was as we do not buy much meat or snacks. We are also on fixed incomes.
We need another freezer to keep ahead of price hikes.
BUT they NEVER give up their PAY tv or their Multi cell phones per household.
HOW many were cars UNDER 3 years old???
I know a few people that get food from a local pantry.
It consists mostly of baked goods and candy and a few boxed items now. Very little meat. They do get some taters but sometimes the bags are rotten inside. They don’t complain, but They do mention it.
They are old and there is too much sugary stuff.
“Or maybe people don’t want to give food knowing it’s going to go first to illegals.”
Bingo. I do not give any more to food banks because personally knowing the people who run them I know that 97% of the food goes illegal aliens and Americans are squeezed out. It used to be the elderly and new families were the primary recipients, but probably 20 years ago that changed to illegal aliens.
BUT——PEOPLE with FOOD STAMPS, etc., got a 12.6% increase in their benefits on OCT 1st.
SOC SEC COL raise is 3.2%
WE ALSO EAT !!!!!!
As I travel around I don’t see much in the way of food insecurity. More like food oversecurity.
Hmm. I wonder why the food stamp increase was so much more than the Social Security increase. Maybe it’s because:
Food stamp folks riot.
Old folks (like me) don’t riot.
(By the way, we are both definitely showing our age by even using the term “food stamps”. It called something else now, something nicer.)
We have the fattest poor people in the world. If they would give rice, beans, milk, it may be ok...but they do not.
(Reaches over and smacks metmom for being right again)
I am guessing you do not get to much exposure to the working poor... poor people with problems making ends meet is real and is not the individuals you are describing. both groups are real... ask yourself how a family of 4-6 can live off 30,000 or even 40,000 a year. I dare you to budget it out.
we need more fudge rounds.
I always love seeing BMWs, Escalades, Lexuses (Lexi?), Mercedes Benzes, and bedecked and bedazzled people strutting into my local food banks looking for free food.
CULINARY ENHANCEMENT CERTIFICATES.
And yet the price of beer hasn’t been affected much.
