Your characterizations are somewhat correct

PiS - Big government, socially conservative (actually more that it uses this cynically), patriotic (more in word than actions), financially left/socialist/welfare

PO - Mid-sized government, socially liberal (actually more that it uses this cynically), not patriotic, financially rightISH/socialist/welfare

Lewica - LEFT - ex-Communists. Socially highly liberal. And, well, communists

Trzecia Droga - Mid-sized gov, socially conservative-ISH, patriotic-ISH, finanicially socialist

Konfederacja - Small gov, socially conservative, patriotic, financially right.

Thank you for the compliment, saying I am somewhat correct, and may I return the compliment: Your descriptions of Polish politic is somewhat correct.

I will offer the following descriptions (including EU affiliations) of the parties:

Law and Justice, the largest single party, it has ruled Poland for the past eight years. Law and Justice is a member of the Conservatives and Reformers along with the Brothers of Italy (Georgi Meloni’s party) (what a super star!). Law and Justice is center-right to right, and moderately Eurosceptic.

Civic Platform, the second largest party, together with two other parties, is replacing Law and Justice. One of these two parties has ruled since 2005. These have been good years for Poland. Hence, left of center parties have shriveled. Civic Platform is a member of the European Peoples Party, along with the Christian Democrats of Germany. It’s center-to-center right and pro-EU.

The other parties are small but are represented in the Polish parliament because of proportional representation and/or local strength. Quickly:

The Left Party is a social democratic party and a member of the Socialists and Democrats, along with the Social Democrats of Germany.

The Third Way is an association of two distinct parties. The Polish Peoples Party, which is a conservative and agrarian party. It is affiliated with the European Peoples Party. The Poland 2050 Party, which is a (European) liberal party. It is associated with Renew, formerly Association of Liberals and Democrats, along with the Free Democrats of Germany.

The Confederation is an association three distinct parties, one of which is libertarian and the other two of which are nationalist. None of them have representation in the EU parliament, but I would suppose they’d affiliate with Identity and Democracy, along with Marine Le Pen’s party of France and the Alternative Party of Germany.
