v/s 2023 Poland elections
Tusk's party -- KO (Koalicja Obywatelstwo) went up only by 3 percentage points, from 27% to 30%. Hardly a wave
PiS went DOWN from 44% to 35% (9% drop) and so too did Lewica drop from 12.6% to 8.61%
Konfederacja stayed more or less where they were
The big change was Trzecia Droga, as I wrote above but the real winner was the “Trzecia Droga” - third way, led by an alleged “Christian reporter” who got 11% of the votes and a lot of it from PiS (previous government). -- well, they didn't get 11%, they got 14% - completely unexpected.
Trzecia Droga has a very detailed plan -- Polska 2050
We have no discipline in matters of worldview and there will never be one; however, we do not agree to same-sex marriages, emphasized PSL leader Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz
Even Tusk's plan was only legalization of civil partnerships - to which he is already backtracking as he isn't sure of support from PSL for this.
And why are you calling Tusk a "conservative" - he isn't.
Agree. From my decades in Europe when Tusk was highly visible working within the growing EU, he did not show himself more than a mere albeit somewhat charismatic politician. And as the EU grows and brings more power to its center, the "members" which became "member states" are heading towards being mere "states" under the likes of von der Leyen. Poland would do well to remain Poland, in all that this means. After all, look at the SPD-Green mess in Germany....
