CBP is warning its agents to 'exercise extreme caution' after the Mexican military seized 10 IEDs at the border

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is warning agents to be on the lookout for explosive devices.

A federal law-enforcement source shared with FOX Business Network an internal officer safety alert dated December 13th that warns CBP agents to be vigilant after the Mexican military seized 10 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at the border.

The IEDs were found by Mexican authorities after Tucson border patrol observed gunshots at the U.S.-Mexico border and a Tucson supervisory border patrol agent arrested an armed person on the U.S. side who had a loaded AK-47 rifle, two loaded AK magazines, loose rounds and a handgun.

CBP is warning its agents to "exercise extreme caution and should report any possible armed subjects approaching the border with possible explosive devices," according to the memo.

A source tells FOX Business this cartel gun fight erupted over a gap in the border fence at the ranch that is typically used to smuggle drugs through. Now it’s a magnet for the cartel for human smuggling — and the gangs were fighting for control.

CBP's warning comes as Republicans are pushing for increased border safety measures to be included in President Biden’s $106 billion aid package for Israel and Ukraine.

Maybe for a second..., if I was the CBP agent, I might have been tempted to confiscate his weapons, release him, and taken the weapons to my favorite fishing hole and conveniently “lost them”.

You can be sure that’s already happened more than once.

CBP to Staff: “report any possible armed subjects approaching the border with possible explosive devices”

The CBP went on to say “Also, ignore the other ten million NOT armed with explosive devices. They can do as they please.”

What an utterly stupid statement.

“what’s next?”

I’ll go out on a limb here and say that the bombs will get into the USA and go off.

IEDs have been a fear of mine for many years. I retired from the Border Patrol in 2011. As we watched the destruction in Iraq and Afghanistan we knew instinctively we were wide open to this kind of attack.

It’s not like we drive around in unarmored SUVs. I’ve been warning about this for years and I’m surprised they have not done it yet.

Line agents would have to abandon driving anywhere near the border. The cartels would have complete operational control of the border.

One reason I figure they have not done it yet is because Biden already gave them operational control. The agents are all processing illegal aliens.

The other reason is that the cartels like to work as quietly as possible they don’t want attention. Killing Border Patrol Agents with an IED would be a major escalation demanding regular military troops be deployed to the border.

The cartels really, really don’t want that. Under the current system no matter how any drug shipments get seized are how many immigrant loads are intercepted the cartels are still making a hell of a lot of money.

The problem is the cartels are a competitive bunch and if the Gulf Cartel wanted to bring the hammer down on the Sinaloa Cartel they could deploy an IED in their territory and let them take the heat for it.

I’m glad I’m retired but I still fear for my agents.

They found ten IEDs on the US/Mexican border? Do we still have a border with Mexico or were they found in the general region where our southern border once was?

Enough of this bullsh!t. Send the US military down there with loaded weapons and orders to stop this madness, whatever it takes!
