They opened the Israeli crossing for humanitarian and PR and diplomatic purposes. It doesn’t have to stop the war against Hamas. It’s better if Israel controls the inspection and flow of aid. Besides, Israel may have to close (with force) the Sinai crossing. Too many tunnels. Aid has to flow from somewhere.
This guy is protesting for the same reasons - he gives Netanyahu a talking point about his government’s stability when he speaks to foreign diplomats. The last thing the US or EU wants is another snap election in Israel. Netanyahu is the devil they know.
