Erie County is launching a new online portal to help local employers identify who is an essential worker during snowstorms and other emergencies that require a driving ban to be declared.
The travel exemption portal will determine who would be exempt from a travel ban and allowed to travel to and from work. They will be defined by specific categories of workers using a tiered system.That already includes law enforcement and other public safety personnel, along with health care and utility maintenance workers.
County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz said that under the New York State Public Officers law, a driving ban can be issued only after a state of emergency has been declared by the head of a local municipality.
Driving bans are issued mainly to protect life and property or to help bring an emergency situation under control by opening up the roads while restoring essential services as quickly as possible.

I live in a blue state too. There’s a big difference in the residents on the East side of the Cascade Curtain versus the crazy leftards who infect the West side to the Pacific Ocean.
I have thought New York State was similar. Farther away from NYC the more sane the folks become. This article destroys that notion. It appears the entire state has tyrant issues. Bleed out from NYC, I suppose.
We’re seeing liberal seepage into solid conservative cities too. Spokane is starting to go the way of the Goony Bird too. Progressivism is the cancer of the mind.
Around here there are certain pockets of blue counties:
Thompson (Ithaca, city of evil)
Erie (Buffalo)
Monroe (Rochester)
Again fairly large urban areas or college towns (Cornell)
I think we should all apply to overwhelm the system. I run my husband’s HVAC biz and routinely travel to that area to help out my DIL and granddaughter while dad is away with the Air Force deployed in Saudi Arabia.
This is why there needs to be a BAN on Taxpayer funds being spent on fossil fuels for transportation, they can all use EV’s, hopefully they all get stuck in the snow and freeze to death in the name of global warming.

Huge snowfalls are common in Erie county. This portal is designed to give the government the chance to make the roads safe again without having them congested with excess traffic. If that is ALL it is used for, I support the measure.
The article even states that the local executive has to declare a public emergency.
However, I do expect it to be abused in some fashion.

My employer kept busy during the lunacy. In my job I travel frequently as an application trainer.
A customer invited me to upstate NY so I checked to see if I could go. My boss told me to call Legal who came back with a very wordy letter that as I understood it, left the decision up to me.
We’ll see ya. I’m hitting the road travel ban or not. As I recall, I visited 22 states during the lockdowns.
A friend posted that he finally went to a restaurant like it was some sort of major victory. I replied that I’d been to hundreds and enjoyed my status as a non-vaxed pure blood rebel. I even lied about my name and phone number when I had to give it to get seated at some restaurants.

Why would you have to do that?
Why should I have to give them my personal information so they can track my movement. It’s none of their business.
Some states and cities required name and number to eat.
