HR is a position created to employ black females. Many large companies put the HR VP as a board member to create a black female presence there too. Tokenism does nothing to assist the perception of run-of-the-mill minority employees.
I did a contract design position for a major aircraft company. They had an entire “R&D division” just for the employment of dangerously unqualified black “engineers” and angry minority women with “studies” degrees. It was completely isolated from the actual production and design of the aircraft. Everyone knew the game. The real engineering staff was White, Indian, and Oriental. Not a single black person performed any actual engineering calculations. The “diversity” division was just so they could say they have such wonderful diversity for government contracts and diverse pictures for promotional materials.
You betcha, HR is wakanda. I hated going there. If you looked like me they did the absolute minimum they could to address the reason you were there. It was there l realized black women are masters at giving general answers to specific questions. To get info you want you have to ask the same question 4 different ways and maybe you will get the info you need.
