Or starts a trend.
Why on the Republican primary ballot? Shouldn’t this be on the state-wide ballot in November?
I’m stayin in. Let’s vote on kicking the deep Blue states OUT of the union.
This referendum brought to us by those fine folks at Rat Party Headquarters.
fed.gov and all progs will panic when they see their little scheme of a blue Texas walk out the back door.
They will proclaim that Texas is not allowed to secede.
Texas will say “We are not asking permission.”
.
Maybe got the idea from FReeper Bray’s book - “Republic of Texas”....Great book...Bailed out the other 49 states with trillions of $$ and TX became a country unto itself...
At least there’s one sensible state.
Get out before the whole thing collapses into ruin.
Concertina wire and river floats from NM to the Gulf.
And NOTHING that DC can do anything about it!
Then start making overtures to OK, KS, NE, SD, ND, etc etc etc

Surreal was the 2016 word of the year because of - you guessed it- Trump. A US tax funded entity’s opinion.
The entire SE region, Midwest and mountain states should unite and do the same. Of course, Colorado wouldn’t but I think the liberals there would feel the pressure and start to head back to California or wherever they came from.
I believe the problem of secession was settled back in 1861-1865 by war, and a Supreme Court ruling in 1869 that NO STATE can secede from the US.

I’ve lived there twice while in Air Force. Can do it again.
Folks, do your homework.
This didn’t happen overnight and it isn’t going to happen overnight. The TEXIT movement if very well organized and they are doing these movements incrementally and thoughtfully. They are not making this up, but are following a plan guided by experts.
They already know they have the votes. They are seeking to inform and influence through the entire process, rather than uncork a sudden Texas-wide referendum. They truly would rather the citizens of the United States to come to their senses, but in case they don’t: this is a move towards self-preservation and self-determination.
They are not screwing around.
I couldn’t think of a bigger waste of time
I believe that it is impossible because Congress has to approve.
TEXIT now!
Hell! I may have to move to Texas!
It would be bad for conservatives, because that is a lot of electoral votes we would lose. Now if we could get all red states to secede in unison, that would be a different matter entirely.
Here’s hoping.
"Texas could vote on referendum to secede from the United States this spring"
Speaking of secession, why don't Texans support a referendum that would support hopeful Trump 47 in leading all the states to put a stop to unconstitutional federal taxes and likewise unconstitutional interference in the affairs of the sovereign states?
More specifically, Texans need to lead ALL the states to effectively “secede” from the unconstitutionally big federal government by repealing the 16th (direct taxes) and 17th (popular voting for federal senators) Amendments (16&17A).
Consider the repealing of 16&17A as part of reparations for victim taxpayers of the unconstitutionally big federal government having to pay a lifetime of unconstitutional federal taxes, taxes that Congress cannot reasonably justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers and a few other constitutionally enumerated expenses.
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
“If the tax be not proposed for the common defence, or general welfare, but for other objects, wholly extraneous, (as for instance, for propagating Mahometanism among the Turks, or giving aids and subsidies to a foreign nation, to build palaces for its kings, or erect monuments to its heroes,) it would be wholly indefensible upon constitutional principles [emphases added].” — Justice Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution 2 (1833).
From the congressional record:
”Simply this, that the care of the property, the liberty, and the life of the citizen, under the solemn sanction of an oath imposed by your Constitution, is in the States and not in the federal government [emphases added]. I have sought to effect no change in that respect in the Constitution of the country.” —John Bingham, Congressional. Globe. 1866, page 1292 (see top half of third column)
“Cherish, therefore, the spirit of our people, and keep alive their attention. If once they become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, judges and governors, shall all become wolves [emphasis added]. It seems to be the law of our general nature.” - Thomas Jefferson (Letter to Edward Carrington January 16, 1787)
Pelosi: "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it." (non-FR; 6 sec.)
Democrats Are Terrified Of An Educated And Informed Public (3.12.23)
Finally, consider that corrupt political party and media fuss about "obsolete" electoral college is because the electoral college is the only thing stopping the corrupt political parties from establishing a permanent puppet presidency that will unquestioningly sign unconstitutional taxing and spending bills into law.
