Russia battles to curb inflation ahead of Putin’s re-election bid

Tackling cost of eggs and putting western company exits on hold among measures aimed at containing surging prices.

Vladimir Putin’s re-election campaign has prompted a fresh drive by Russian officials to curb inflation as disquiet grows over soaring prices for consumer goods and as technocrats move to rein in a weakening rouble.

-snip-

Pressures on consumers were a central feature of Putin’s telethon last Thursday, the first time he had held his usually annual press conference or phone-in since ordering the invasion in 2022 — and, since “eggs” are slang for testicles in Russian, he could not pass up an opportunity for a crude joke.

“I asked the minister of agriculture how his eggs are. He said they were fine. And I replied: ‘Well, our citizens have some problems,’” Putin said, to audible gasps in the studio.

Fielding several complaints on the issue live on air, he apologised for the price of eggs and blamed the government, which he said had “not approved imports in time”.

Inflation rate in Russia is currently somewhat over 7%, about the same as ours last year. Not fun, but not the end of the world, either.

2022?

You’re behind the times.

It’s almost 2024 and there are egg lines in Russia today.

Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov on the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

1. Kiev planned to blockade Melitopol in 15 days during the counteroffensive and then advance with access to the Sea of Azov, Mariupol and the border with Crimea

2. The main task of Russian troops in the special operation zone this year was to repel a counteroffensive by the strike group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which planned to deprive the Russian Federation of a land corridor to Crimea.

3. For the offensive, the enemy increased the strike group in the Zaporizhia direction from 50 to 80 battalions.

4. The Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a counteroffensive on June 4 and, with huge losses, could not overcome the tactical defense zone of the Russian Federation.

5. The enemy’s great offensive failed. The total losses amounted to 160,000 men and 766 tanks. more than 3000 armored fighting vehicles, 121 aircraft and 23 helicopters.

6. In total, Ukraine has received more than 5200 tanks and armored fighting vehicles, 1300 artillery units (guns, mortars, self propelled guns, MLRS), more than 100 aircraft and helicopters, 23,000 UAVs, more than 200 cruise and tactical missiles since the beginning of the SMO.

7. More than 100,000 soldiers have been trained abroad in NATO countries.

8. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are now actively defending and successfully improving their positions. More than 1,500 objects of military industrial significance were hit. The level of military production in Ukraine has decreased.

9. The general confrontation with the United States, which has made Ukraine and Europe, as well as Palestine, a zone of wars and conflicts, continues.

10. The hegemony of the United States and its satellites is becoming a thing of the past. A new multipolar world order is now taking shape.

“A new multipolar world order is now taking shape.”

This much I can agree with. In not so many years this new multipolar world will have to grapple with the decline and fall of Ruzzia.

China will inevitably move to retake Siberia from the Ruzzian invaders.

Ukraine will justifiably carve off some buffer lands between themselves and the barbarians.

Finland will take back what belongs to them.

Japan will retake the Kurile Islands and perhaps all of Sakhalin Island.

Georgia will oust the Ruzzian invaders. So will Moldova.

Chechnya will wipe out their Ruzzian oppressors and declare independence.

Lithuania and Poland will carve up Koenigsburg between them.

The little bit that will be left of Ruzzia will be the rump state of Muscovy filled with drunken old men yelling at the sky and cursing Putin for leading them to destruction and irrelevance.

Yep, a multipolar world will carve up Ruzzia between them. And each in turn will learn from recent history and take great pains to ensure that the Ruzzian language and culture is extinguished in their lands.

Turkey will rise and lead the Muslim world, and create Ottoman Empire 2.0.

The Muslim world hate the Turks/Ottomans. If anything could unite the Iranians and the Saudis it would be them joining forces to destroy Turkey.

If Turkey ever quits NATO this might happen.

It will be more of an alliance than necessarily a Turkish-Dominated one, even though Turkey will be the tip of the spear.

Your doink must be ready to fall off as hot as obsessed as you are about Putin today.

Delete the picture of Putin with his shirt off and take a cold shower.
