Andrew Cuomo for NYC mayor? Say it ain’t so, New York!

A recent poll shows Andrew Cuomo beating Eric Adams easily in a primary for New York City mayor.

Please, New York: Just say no!

Some New Yorkers clearly have short memories.

They want to forget about the numerous allegations against the ex-gov of sexual misconduct and abuse.

And the fact that COVID claimed the lives of 16,000 people who fought for and built this country, many because of Cuomo’s deadly March 25 directive ordering nursing homes to take in COVID-positive patients.

That includes my step-grandmother, who, along with her sister, were Long Island’s two Rosie the Riveter Homefront Sisters during World War II.

Yet let me remind everyone of the many other reasons Andrew Cuomo is not the hero some may think he is, but rather a major reason our great city is in such peril.

Ever hear of something called “hero syndrome” — when people seek recognition for responding to harmful situations they themselves have intentionally created (eg., when a firefighter is first on the scene and extinguishes a fire that he himself purposely set)?

Cuomo fits the bill.

Turns out he’s the actual creator of numerous crises for which he pretends he can be the savior.

Name an issue he now loves to talk about (in one-sided diatribes), and I’ll explain how he started the fire he now claims to be the only hero capable of putting out.

At the top of the list: illegal migrants.

They’re wreaking all sorts of havoc on the city (particularly regarding its budget).

Cuomo freely discusses the issue in his podcast and friendly interviews, as he attempts to make a political comeback.

Yet guess who made New York a sanctuary state? You got it: Then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Only because he has rich friends who like to have dinners in nice restaurants and not be disturbed on the way to and from by "the element."

Cuomo would still stick it to the middle class any way he can - but under his administration the billionaires' quality of life might inch back toward what it was in the Bloomberg-era.

My sister was active in Queens Democratic Party Politics. She ran for city council and was endorsed by the New York Times. Her opponent was the chairman of the board of my Catholic high school where G. H. W. Bush ran a pro-cop rally during the 1988 campaign. Her opponent ran on the Conservative Party line, and naturally he won. When he retired and there seemed to be an opening the Governor’s son, that one, big footed her off the ballot. She had worked with him on campaigns and thought he was stupid. I think I can trust her judgment. (She was an attractive woman, but I think she knew how to put out “back off, buddy” vibes, so grope stories.)

NYC would be better off under the rule of the mafia. At least the right people would get whacked for the mess be put on them.

Speaking of illegals, hotel rates in NYC have been astronomical for the last two years, mainly because of a shortage of hotel rooms available in the market due to the 10’s of thousands of illegals being put up for $400/night at taxpayer expense throughout the city. Christmas 2001, you could find a nice room on a weekend in mid-town or maybe the FiDi for $250, a relative bargain in NY this time of year. Last week, we paid over $500 on a Saturday in the FiDi. (The wife still thinks Christmas in NY is like when she was a kid, but the decay is a whole other story).

Sad to say, he’s probably the best you’re going to get in New York.

If he didn’t want higher office, and stopped the lying and acting out of the socialist Dem fantasies that have been killing the nation - and assumed the life of a rational New Yorker from Queens - it should be better than the Adams Family Administration. But no guarantees.

Frighteningly enough, he might be an improvement over Adams and certainly over de Blasio.

Like I said, he’s probably the best you’re going to get. He also was probably the best Governor they could have gotten, as well. He was certainly better than the ghoul they have now.

quotes:

The Empire State became an illegal alien sanctuary on the basis of a September 15, 2017 executive order signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), which covered state agencies, but not local law enforcement.

In November 2018, a New York state appeals court ruled (in the case of Francis v. DeMarco) that state and local law enforcement cannot honor ICE immigration detainers.

New York began allowing illegal aliens to obtain driver’s licenses in 2019.
