Not just the minimum wage workers. All the others that were making the new minimum wage will want a raise too.

And they say that inflation is over??

I agree. All of them are that way. Crappy food for Big Prices.

But look on the bright side. So long as they go through the motions of looking for work, they’ll get unemployment, food stamps, maybe even welfare (”Workfare”? The ‘90s called. They said, “Ha!”). The deep state gets to appropriate more money, raise taxes, accumulate more power, and call fiscally responsible officials in the legislative and executive branch “mean spirited” and “racist”. Young men and women fed up with living in poverty will join the military to “be all that they can be” and die in endless wars, which will enrich defense contractors, who will hire union workers, who will contribute money to politicians so that the have-nots can’t work in the defense factories and stay impoverished, and so on and so forth in the vicious cycle that is Washington.

No one is forced to work at businesses which pay rock bottom wages. What are you talking about?

Minimum wage jobs are not INTENDED to support families trying to make a living. They are at most for temporary employees or kids just trying to make a few bucks, not living expenses.

“If your shiiity little business can’t pay enough for a person to physically get to your location, eat a meal, and get back home, with something else for living accomodations and basic needs, then it really isn’t a “job” is it?”

A really small business need not employ anyone but the proprietor. If kids want to earn big money, they can push crack and cook meth so they die young, but a low-paying job teaches kids work ethic and important basic skills that will help them even after they move up the ladder to something more lucrative, but honest and decent. Nothing shyyyti about it.

Here in California, ever since the Dems forced employers to pay a higher and higher minimum wage, what I have noticed has been the larger stores (Walmart, Costco, fast food, etc) installing “self check out”s and so getting rid of cashier jobs.
But cashier jobs are important part time and first time jobs for people, especially young people...i.e. students during summer vacation to get some job experience.
The Dems are just making it ever harder for a young person to get a first job.
Job ads demand experience at this and experience at that.
How does one get experience if one has none, but the low pay jobs can’t be had without experience.
Kind of a case of “You can’t get there from here”.
Dems hate young people one must conclude.

No, they won’t be getting a raise.

The people whose jobs are not worth minimum wage are having their jobs banned.

Another problem is that if min wage is raised to $25, those making $25 after an experience raise, will want $30.
After all, if a new worker with no job knowledge/experience is hired now at $25, those who started their jobs previously and got raised to $25, will view it only fair that they get more than the newbie workers.
Bet Gov N did not think of that.

IMO, the top leadership in the Fed govt and most all State govts did not get there for reason of job qualifications.
Example, current White House occupants, many “judges”, etc.

I bagged groceries part-time while in high school. I was 15½ and started at $1.25 plus tips. It wasn’t just a job. While the income was nice...it was a social circle for me of other students working part-time, learning to meet and deal with customers, learning discipline & responsibility...heck, I even “fell in love” a couple of times, including one woman I circled back around to a couple of times in life. While the work was drudgery-ish, the experience was great and kept me off the streets regime living in a somewhat bad neighborhood.

I can imaging this being the same experiences most teenage kIds have at that age if they want to work a job. While they might not have an iffy neighborhood to live in, I can see this type of job getting them off the couch, playing small-screen games day in and day out. Businesses will be hurt by the increased minimum wage, but the youth will also be hurt. That’s a shame because I, for one, enjoyed it.

“Let the market set the rate.”

In the end the market decides the rate, even when libs try to force their ideas on it. Even entry level workers make more than the current minimum wage in weeks if they do a good job so the bottom rate is arbitrary.

Besides, if everything is equal in the magic land of libs why not raise the minimum wage to 100 dollars an hour? The answer applies to 20 dollars the same.

If we raise the minimum wage to one million dollars an hour then everyone will be a millionaire.

Economics is so easy—and so much fun!

;-)
