Looking at the Ukraine- Russian Federation war, it was lost when the USA demanded that western banks freeze Russia out of the international banking system and they didn’t collapse. We lost any hope of being a mediator, as did Europe. And then we thought that making public statements that Ukraine would be used by the west to bleed Russian military equipment and manpower was our goal would make us look like anything but craven moral cowards, willing to let other people die for our foreign policy. The world doesn’t trust America, including Israel. And that’s a shame.

” Russia no longer trusts the United States or any of the NATO states to negotiate in good faith.”

Says people who never negotiate in good faith What a crock.

>> Russia, by contrast, is surging the size of its army and is not a victim of a war of attrition. Russia is the causing the attrition.

Except, of course, that Russia is losing troops at five times the rate as Ukraine.

Unfortunately, Ukraine needs an eight-to-one casualty rate to win.

Putin isdestroying Russia just as thoroughly as he is Ukraine.

He may win, he may lose, but Russia will lose, either way.

I was trying to explain most of these same points to one of the media bedazzled bamboozled neocons around here earlier today. It’s pointless.

“Russia is advancing all along the front”

Not all, but by an amount that surprises me:

I increasingly see this as another Suez Crisis.

In 1956, France and the UK were still seen as Great Powers. They had been on the winning side in WWII and they were major players on the world stage. Until some Egyptian guy named Nasser seized the Suez Canal. France and the UK begged Eisenhower to help them, but Ike refused. France and the UK realized that they were powerless against this Egyptian, and they eventually backed down. No longer Great Powers — and everyone knew it.

I see Russia doing well in The Ukraine and coming out of this war much stronger than when they went in. The West, on the other hand, just looks foolish, weak and corrupt. Both NATO and the US are going to come out of this war weaker than when they went in. The US is incapable of being a moral leader in the world. We are rotting, debt-ridden, and weak — and everyone knows it.

“honest brokers”

The Biden administration appears to me to have made no effort to peacefully end the conflict.

It might have wanted to have white people engage in mutual slaughter or to demonstrate the capabilities of American weapons.

Ukraine was in a strong bargaining position for the first year.

Key sentence from the article:

“Russia no longer trusts the United States or any of the NATO states to negotiate in good faith.”

Is this being posted in response to the Russian multiple attacks on civilian targets? You can’t disguise Russian stupidity and brutality.
