In the Israeli system.. it only takes more than 50% to change the constitution.. the odd thing is that this occurs so rarely it hasn’t been a problem for those who don’t want things to change.

I’m not familiar with the intricacies of Israel’s laws but it was my understanding that they don’t have a constitution per se rather they have something called “Basic Laws of Israel”. From Wikipedia:

“The Basic Laws of Israel (Hebrew: חוקי היסוד‎, romanized: Ḥukey HaYesod) are fourteen quasi-constitutional laws of the State of Israel, and some of them can only be changed by a supermajority vote in the Knesset (with varying requirements for different Basic Laws and sections).”

So it’s out of my depth to speculate whether the enactment of this particular law might or might not violate the rules they already have in place. I guess they’ll just have to hash it out among themselves.
