But that is the argument made to support any abortion not just those that are for a difficult cases. The other fact which must be considered is that the media allow no alternate to abortion be discussed in such cases. Certainly not the idea of the baby being worthy of life and care even if for a matter of minutes.

The mother’s life ALWAYS comes first. She can carry another child after recovery from a troubled pregnancy. She cannot if she is dead how is that so hard to understand for some. The truth is both will die or sacrifice one to save one that’s the real choice. If past 20 weeks or so the proper medical procedure would be a C section and try to save both the mother and child. DNC or in utero abortion is hard on the body and either can lead to more difficult future pregnancy.
My wife had two second trimester miscarriages both required DNCs or she would’ve died. She had never had an abortion in her life and those medically lifesaving DNCs made further pregnancy much harder. They were not going to let her try to pass dead fetal tissue past 14 weeks you HAVE to do the DNC.
These types of discussions should always be only between a doctor and patient no other person other than the spouse should have any say in it not some bureaucrats or politicians.
I teach at the college level from time to time and I can assure you that this is THE single issue that brings out GenZ/ millennials men and women alike in crawl over broken glass droves. This country is in favor of at least 15 weeks and under for sure any attempts to go lower than that will lead to crushing defeats at the ballot boxes.
Like it or not the younger generation is not the same Americans as GenX and older they simply are not.They now out number the Boomers two to one even with all of GenX the youngsters still are the majority this is just demographic fact. Youngsters are largely atheists especially in the sciences which I teach. So holding what in their minds is an imaginary angry deity has no sway on their choices in fact it drives them further away. Compromise will have to be reached or they will show up in numbers and win elections by demographics alone. Don’t have to like it but numbers are all that matters at the ballot boxes.
