everal cities in Minnesota, including Duluth and the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, are facing challenges in transitioning their public transit systems to zero-emission electric buses due to operational difficulties in subzero temperatures, which significantly reduce the buses’ range.
The efficiency of lithium-ion batteries decreases in cold weather, impacting the buses’ ability to hold a charge and provide adequate warmth for passengers during winter.
Other factors such as increased rolling resistance and less effective regenerative braking system in cold temperatures also affect the buses’ performance.
Metro Transit spokesperson, Drew Kerr, said, “Using garage chargers alone, electric buses can remain in service for 70 to 75 miles before needing to return to the garage; with on-route chargers, electric buses were scheduled to be in service for up to 90 miles before returning to the garage.” Duluth spokesperson, Dave Clark, said, “They would fail, they would not perform, they would experience malfunctions, glitches. They were extremely problematic right out of the gate.”

Who could have guessed?
Gee. It gets cold in Minnesota. Who knew?
This is so negative. Those buses burst into flames and keep passengers warm also.
We have electric public transportation downtown. It was first installed in the late 1890’s.
They’re called trollies.
Wonder how los illegalas immigrantes are dig’n their first chicago and NE US winter?
Who still has trollies besides San Francisco?

Of course it does. Virtue-sniveling, slobbering morons. Physics and math is so racist.
This leaves Minnesota Democrat officials with three choices.
1. Admit that EV buses are a failure and go back to traditional buses.
2. Ignore the evidence and keep on running EV buses.
3. Demand that the government do more to fight Climate Change. After all, it shouldn’t be that cold in Minnesota.
I’m betting on 2. But some combination of 2 and 3 is also possible.
All Public Employee’s should be required to use public transportation to and from their respective workplace or be terminated immediately
All of these issues have been well known. And I mean for scores of years. battery technology is as mature as it gets, nothing listed in the article can be described as unexpected.
But they went forward anyway.
The leftists dominate much of the north, where their energy policies do the most harm because of the colder weather.
We aren't ready for 100% electric vehicles yet, but you can't tell anything to the Global Climate Change crowd pushing for this crap.

They can go to Florida.
We Floridians will never notice them...

This reminds me when the wind farms froze up about 10 years ago because they were not designed for cold weather.
That’s a different science, that patriarchal numbers and equations nonsense that was unjustly forced onto other people’s of color. Fake science meant to keep peoples of color from taking control.
