Europe experienced stark weather contrasts on Wednesday, with extreme cold and snowstorms disrupting transportation and closing schools in Scandinavia while strong winds and heavy rain in western Europe caused flooding and at least one death.
Temperatures fell below minus 40 degrees Celsius (minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit) in the Nordic region for a second day in a row Wednesday. In Kvikkjokk-Årrenjarka in Swedish Lapland, the mercury dropped to minus 43.6 C (minus 46.5 F), the lowest January temperature recorded in Sweden in 25 years, Sweden’s TT news agency reported.
Extremely cold temperatures, snow and gale-force winds disrupted transportation throughout the Nordic region, with several bridges closed and some train and ferry services suspended. Several schools in Scandinavia were closed.
The wave of cold air from Siberia and the Arctic region has also swept down over western Russia, with temperatures in Moscow and other areas plummeting to minus 30 degrees Celsius (minus 22 F), well below the average temperature for early January.

Climate Change is heating things up again.
But, but.....didn’t they say there would be no snow anywhere by 2010? I remember some actress who happened to be filming a few episodes up in the Arctic in the early 2000s. In the middle of all the ice and snow, she mentioned something about “it’s so sad this is all going to melt soon.”
Bet our NATO allies are real glad Biden blew up NS2 now!
Yeah...somebody can’t use a converter very well...
Same...I lived in Prince Albert SK....I experienced that.
But, but, but .... global warming! /s
There is a point where thevtemp numbers merge
I want to see how all their electric vehicles hold up!
Huh? I thought -40 centigrade is equivalent to -72 Fahrenheit. So -40 C is colder than -40 F. Or am I wrong?
IN the last 2 years we have a number of Icelandic and La Palma volcano eruptions, and the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Haapi eruption.

I am going to say that volcanic Ash in the norther hemisphere is probably responsible. (That and maybe some of the the artillery and burning building smoke from the Ukraine conflict.)
We used to call it winter, now everything weather wise is an “extreme”.

It is a trick question. They are the same at negative 40 degrees
Ok. Thanks. I’ll need to do some further research on this matter. I’m from south Florida. We didn’t have such temperatures when I was growing up.
I never thought that snow would be treated like an enemy,
We used to call it winter, now everything weather wise is an “extreme”.
We had an extreme mild Fall.
F = C (9/5) + 32
If C = -40 then F = -40 (9/5) + 32,
F = -8 (9) + 32,
F = -72 + 32,
F = -40
That proves it. Hard to argue with a properly calculated mathematical formula. I’m convinced. I don’t like it, but I accept it.

Next month will be different.
Some of that “neocon” hardware has been in service for quite some time. So when does your “neocon” timeframe start to determine what’s neocon hardware and what is not? Or are you just completely anti-American like I think you are?
“Global warming”
Exactly! It wouldn’t be so cold if it weren’t getting warmer!
