On his last day as president on Jan. 20, 2021, Donald Trump stood in a snapping wind and waved goodbye to relatives and supporters before he took his final flight on Air Force One back to Mar-a-Lago. No elected Republican of any stature showed up at Joint Base Andrews for the bleak farewell.
Trump, at that moment, was a pariah among Republican elites. The party’s leaders in the House and Senate, Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell, blamed him for the Capitol siege. Party fundraisers assured donors they were done with him. On conference calls, House Republican leaders contemplated a “post-Trump” GOP.
Today, three years after Jan. 6 and more than a week before the Iowa caucuses, Trump has almost entirely subjugated the elected class of the Republican Party. As of this week, every member of the House Republican leadership is formally backing his campaign to recapture the White House.
Trump has obsessed over his score card of endorsers, according to more than a half-dozen Trump advisers and people in regular contact with him, most of whom insisted on anonymity to describe private conversations.
He sees gathering the formal endorsements as a public validation of his triumphant return that serves his strategy of portraying himself as the inevitable victor. He calls endorsements the “E word”; when lawmakers merely say they “support” him, he considers it insufficient and calls that the “S word.” In recent weeks, his allies have told lawmakers that Trump will be closely watching who has and hasn’t endorsed him before the Iowa caucuses Jan. 15.

They thought he was thoroughly vanquished. That all their hard work for five straight years had yielded a victory. And it did, but only through chicanery.
But Trump is still standing, and the blows to them that are coming may be greater than the blows they experienced thus far.
We shall see.
Fear and favor. In other words politics as usual.
Leadership.
It took 3 ADULTS to write this!!! LOL!!
Trump has to rule thru fear.
Because these craven @ssholes wil turn on him once they think it is safe.
Like Jan 2021.
It’s not preaching fear, it’s telling the truth.
Something the Times no longer recognizes.
NY Times BLOG and BS.

Ah, here come the “anonymous sources describing private conversations” — trademark of the NYT and, especially, that walking talking stinking yeast infection known as Maggie Haberman.
I’m just a tremblin’ all the way to the ballot box.
I hope he continues to do so x10
What is really appalling is that Trump has abused his power to throw political opponents into DC prisons in solitary confinement with no trial or bail for almost three years.
Wait! What?
Never mind.

Anytime you see three authors for a NYT article, you know the lunacy will be off the charts. It must be a built-in defense mechanism: if anyone is challenged, he or she can claim a lack of total agreement and state that it was really the other people's idea.
From church clerics in the World Church of Global Warming.
I’m not reading this BS! It be the NYT
What a ridiculously weak article. So Trump is running a well managed, disciplined campaign and categorizing people based on their level of support.
If he weren’t doing that, they’d write and article about chaos and lack of organization in the Trump camp.
If you’re an American and don’t fear what’s presently taking place in this country, and don’t hate what’s happening at present time, then you hate America
