One in thirty Oakland residents had their car stolen last year as 15,000 vehicles were stolen - a 45 percent increase in just a year.
The shocking figure is the highest in 15 years.
However, less than five percent of those auto theft cases lead to an actual arrest as the California city's understaffed and underfunded police department are preoccupied dealing with a 21 percent spike in violent crime. And there are also just two police officers assigned to deal with car theft.

It’s okay because Oakland has excellent transit and ubiquitous bike lanes.
And nearly all of them will line up to vote Democrat in the next election as the stupid runs deep in them.
Highest in 15 years? How bad was it then? No wonder the A’s wanted to leave Oakland. (Nobody could get to the games because their cars were stolen.)
Ah , the great life in democrat controlled territory
Maybe they should just Ban Cars in Oakland
“My car got stolen”
“Yes but the weather is pleasant for walking”
It’s gotta work in favor of the democrats otherwise they wouldn’t put up with it. As I see it the cities are so blue they can hemmorage voters and turn the suburbs more left.
It could turn the also red areas redder. Redistricting buys 10 years of incumbency if done to one’s advantage.
Democrats don’t need voters. They just need people on the rolls. They can vote for them.
I cannot feel sorry for anyone in Kalifornia for anything they’ve voted for. The state is in a downhill unstoppable slide towards full blown communism.
