Breitbart ^ | 01/07/2024 | Simon Kent

Sales of electric vehicles (EVs) are defying the combined urging of green lobbyists and government diktat with just a quarter making up new purchases for 2023, UK data reveals.

The consumer rejection of EVs is a challenge to the electric car market and government goals to move towards net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Why isn’t the U.S. Government’s ENTIRE FLEET OF VEHICLES made up of EV trash? Hypocrites!

Have you looked at fleet sales for these things?

Deep States myrmidons will be stuck with them.

A quarter is a lot higher than I thought it would be. But then again that’s in the UK. I’m guessing the percentage of new EV sales is a lot lower on this side of pond.

Tyrannical government sez “We don't give a sh1t what you stinking consumers want. You WILL buy these things. Watch us ban gasoline next.”

Conservative response: Then no longer subsidize it.
Liberal response: Then force them to take it.

The forcing part would actually be pretty easy. Just get the EPA to issue more and more stringent gas station regulations. Slowly but surely. Make it very expensive to follow those regulations. Poof! Eventually few or no gas stations. Gotta go electric, pal.

Something similar happened to a guy I know. He owned a gas station near me. The EPA showed up, and shut him down. Turns out his gasoline storage tank was the wrong type. It wasn’t leaking or anything like that. Just the wrong type.

His choice was either to dig up the old tank and replace it, or go out of business. He chose the latter.

Well, gasoline is clearly far too dangerous for unlicensed people to buy or possess. Five gallons of gasoline, purchased without showing any kind of ID can, if applied in the wrong place can kill far more people than even an assault weapon. Won’t somebody please think of the children?

Reading a little deeper it says only 8.8% are PRIVATE sales. The government is subsidizing a stupid policy.

Govt/fleet sales are propping up the sales figures by a huge margin. Consumer sales are nowhere near 25%. More like 5-6%. Breitbart has a large number leftist and rat moles in their ranks these days.

I got $100 down for a Cybertruck.

Looks pretty cool.

Worse case scenario, I'm out a hundred dollars and I've spent more than that at Texas Roadhouse - where you can throw the peanut shells down to the floor!

Even the 8.8% is inflated. If you narrow the sample window to 90 days l’ll bet it’s in the 5-6% range. As people have been finding out about all the problems sales have collapsed. Breitbart has many lefty moles these days.

Govt/fleet sales. Not a real number even in the UK. Probably 8% there and 6% here.

“Just get the EPA to issue more and more stringent gas station regulations. “

That is exactly what is happening. The upcoming CAFE standards will require the car makers to suspend the laws of physics to meet them. The rats have every intention of regulating ICE vehicles off the roads. It is why all the car makers committed to all EV production but cars are planned out 4-5 years ahead of production. So EV sales tanking now is a big problem for them.

At its widest the United Kingdom is 300 miles (500 km) across. From the northern tip of Scotland to the southern coast of England, it is about 600 miles (1,000 km).

On average, the temperature ranges from 18 to 25 °C (64 to 77 °F).

Given adequate electrical generation, EVs might make sense in the UK.

Texas Roadhouse

Having the adjective "Texas" in the appellation becomes ironic once you taste their ribs.
