I grew up in suburbs of Utica, Ithaca, and Syracuse. It was a nice place as a kid. I still remember a lot of the NYS history taught in 7th and 8th grades, back when we were proud of it. But I never realized it was the cloudiest part of the country. We used to visit my Mom’s folks in Idaho and Dad’s brother and family in Idaho on LONG road trips. That’s when I learned parts of the country get lots of sunshine, have majestic mountains and have wide open spaces.
I know people from New Hartford, NY.
I lived in Lansing, NY for three years before we moved to Orchard Park, NY.
I lived in Syracuse during college at SUNY ESF/SU for two years.
The weather all around those Great Lakes is gray and overcast all the time. A buddy’s wife is from Green Bay. He calls it Green Blaw because every time he visits it is grey and cloudy.
The worst weather is really around Syracuse up to Watertown. Oswego, NY was the absolute worst of any place.
