Exclusive – Florida Congressman Greg Steube: DeSantis Should ‘Get Back to Tallahassee’ and Do His Job
Breitbart ^ | 1.17.24 | HANNAH BLEAU KNUDSEN

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis should return to the Sunshine State instead of campaigning in New Hampshire and South Carolina and “do the job Floridians elected him to do,” Greg Steube (R-FL) told Breitbart News on Tuesday following former President Donald Trump’s historic win in the Iowa caucuses.

“This race was over before it even started,” Steube said in an exclusive statement to Breitbart News. “The GOP is solidly behind the leader of our party, President Trump.”

“Instead of flying to South Carolina and New Hampshire while the Florida legislature is in session, the governor should get back to Tallahassee and do the job Floridians elected him to do,” Steube added.

His remarks followed Trump’s extraordinary showing in Iowa on Monday evening, as he swept the Iowa caucuses in a blowout victory never seen in history. Trump garnered 51 percent of the vote, nearly 30 points higher than DeSantis, who saw 21.2 percent support. That translated to well over 30,000 more votes in Trump’s column than his closest rival.

Despite that, DeSantis’s campaign and allies launched accusations of “election interference” after media outlets identified the inevitable 30 minutes into the race.

Christina Pushaw 🐊 🇺🇸 @ChristinaPushaw · Follow When Fox sent out this “breaking news” people in the precinct I was monitoring in Des Moines were still speaking and had not even cast votes. Corporate media election interference.

The distant second place for DeSantis came despite his 99 county tour, millions spent, and several endorsements from top leaders in the Hawkeye State.

Moral of the story: Don’t let your head be filled with visions of grandeur by taking advice from Karl Rove or the Trump hating Bush family. De Santis if he had been wise and tolerated Trump’s eccentrics would have been the VP candidate in 2024 and probably elected President in 2028. Instead his political career is in ruins.

“would have been the VP candidate in 2024”

Amendment XII of our Constitution pretty much forces the President and VP to come from different states.

Trump & DeSantis are both Florida residents.

🚨🚨@RonDeSantis just flipped a Republican Florida State House seat 35 to DEMOCRAT by being an ABSENTEE GOVERNOR🚨🚨

More failed leadership from @GovRonDeSantis and the Florida Republican legislature who all flew out to Iowa while this special election in Florida was taking place!

Now a Democrat has flipped a Republican seat in the so called “red state of Florida”.

You know how much Ron loves bragging about how he is “responsible for Florida being red”. Another bold faced lie by Ron.

All major Republican Florida officials were in Iowa this last week helping Ron with his delusional campaign for President, and illegally campaigning for @RonDeSantis on Florida taxpayer dime instead of focusing on this important House seat special election in Florida.

President Trump worked hard to flip Florida Red, @RonDeSantis wouldn’t even be Governor without Trump’s endorsement, and now m, Ron DeSantis is trying to turn Florida BLUE by being aN ABSENTEE GOVERNOR!

Under @RonDeSantis’s failed leadership since he launched his failed Presidential campaign, Floridians lost their @FloridaGOP Chair @ChrisMZiegler to a sex (possibly criminal rape) scandal, the Florida GOP has been divided into separate camps, and @RonDeSantis hasn’t been in the state longer than one week for the last 9 months, completely neglecting major issues like the FL insurance crisis, the illegal alien invasion of Florida via our water borders where invaders are taking rafts and boats to gain access to Florida, he has refused to address the utility crisis, and he has been MIA during Hurricane season, he abandoned Broward County, FL during major flooding, and he was in Iowa last week after he declared a STATE OF EMERGENCY IN FLORIDA due to lethal tornadoes and other storms that have damaged the lives of THOUSANDS of Floridians and affected people in 49 of Florida’s 67 counties.

I confronted @RonDeSantis on video about being an ABSENTEE GOVERNOR this week in Iowa, and he ran away from me.

@RonDeSantis should drop out of the Presidential race, and then he should RESIGN as Governor of Florida in DISGRACE.

He’s laying the groundwork for Florida to get a Democrat Governor in 2026.

Everyone should know that DeSantis is like an understudy at the Metropolitan Opera awaiting his chance to go on stage.

Of course he should. He’s drawing that governor’s salary every month. Start being the Governor.

As President, Trump had greater responsibilities than Governor DeSantis, but Trump happily and vigorously campaigned for reelection.

DeSantis knows the value of good subordinates and has the ability to select them.

“The GOP is solidly behind the leader of our party, President Trump.”

With sheaved knives - only the ordinary Republican voters support Trump.

DeSantis did a great job running Florida. His ill conceived presidential campaign has been a complete clown show. Please come back to Tallahassee and do the job you were elected to do.

“DeSantis knows the value of good subordinates and has the ability to select them.”

if that were true then in his absence those subordinates would have handled the illegal invasion of Florida, the insurance and utility issues, and done everything in the governor’s power and supposed abilities as great governor to keep the seat Republican in the special election. likely more un-handled issues in FL too not being addressed adequately by Ron-duh-samtis or his “good” subordinates.

The Fla public didn’t elect subordinates to be governor. They elected Ron. He is destroying his political career. He has zero chance to be President or VP. The horse has died he needs to get off.

DeSantis can’t even beat Trump in Florida where DeSantis is governor. Time for him to face the music. Don’t destroy what’s left of your political career Ron. Go home.
