Iran could produce enough fuel for six nuclear bombs in just one month and even produce a single atomic bomb in as little as a week, a former UN inspector has warned, as fears of a growing regional conflict surge.
Weapons expert David Albright has issued out a sobering warning about the destructive potential of Iran’s arsenal, due to the country’s ability to produce large amounts of weapon-grade uranium.
"Iran can quickly make enough weapon-grade uranium for many nuclear weapons, something it could not do in 2003,” he said.
"Today, it would need only about a week to produce enough for its first nuclear weapon.
"It could have enough weapon-grade uranium for six weapons in one month, and after five months of producing weapon-grade uranium, it could have enough for twelve."
Iran is yet to master "weaponising" its reserves of enriched uranium, but if they did soon, they would potentially have the resources to build 12 nuclear weapons in only five months.
In a report for the US-based non-profit the Institute for Science and International Security, Albright said Iran has now got on top of enrichment and missile technology, two of the three pillars to creating an effective nuclear weapon.
But Albright claims the country is still far from solving the final and crucial stage: weaponisation.
"Weaponisation is the pole that needs more work,” he explained, adding that "It involves theoretical calculations and simulations; development, testing, and construction of the other components of the nuclear weapon.
"The conversion of weapon-grade uranium into metallic components, the integration of all the components into a nuclear weapon and the preparation for mounting the weapons on aircraft or missiles or for use in a full-scale underground test".
The chilling warning comes after at least nine people were killed after Pakistan launched a wave of retaliatory missile strikes on Iranian "terrorist hideouts" in the Sistan and Baluchestan provinces on Thursday morning.
It followed an Iranian drone strike that reportedly killed two children.

If they are “one week” away…they already have it. They need a delivery system. That doesn’t mean a missile, per se.
I wrote last week we will likely see an explosion in the Indian Ocean soon. They know if they use it, Iran would cease to exist. But if they demonstrate it…they become a world player.

False. As the article states, the Mullahs’ regime has not yet attained weaponization ability. If they do, in fact, have a working weapon at this point it would have to be accomplished using NK assets.
Would not have happened if Trump were president.
So they can make all the weapons grade plutonium they want - they just can't do anything with it. Yet. Certainly not in a week.
I suspect Iran is going to wait until Trump is President to do whatever it is they have planned. The planning has probably been coordinated with Obama.

Lets just hope Israel find a way to bomb those underground nuclear Iranian installations. Israel is our last hope in the region.
