Operations in the Han Younis area have found the rooms in a tunnel were the hostages were kept. They are believed to be with Hamas leaders in an undisclosed tunnel complex which is now surrounded
The Israeli battle plans were likely drawn up by backroom taking heads, then reviewed by the NYT.
The IDF sections Gaza into strategic parts which are then cleaned up leaving the untouched parts surrounded and cut off.
At least 650 km of tunnels have been discovered, cleared, and blown up with Hamas explosives.
1. Kill every single person in Hamas and every known supporter including leaders, soldiers, merchants, bankers, teachers, journalists, lawyers, technicians ….. any and all who support or have favorable views of Hamas needs to be killed.
2. Instill more fear of Israel than of Hamas by destroying and killing as many people and buildings as possible in order to have the “civilian” populace snitch on any Hamas and offer NO safe place for support or training.
Works for me, but you left out the parts about expelling the surviving population and salting the ground.
I believe this true as well, but contrary to what some have claimed Israel in the past have given huge numbers of prisoners for relatively small numbers of their own.
Israel has set the precedent, we will see how it plays our
Yes, the only “limits” are self imposed. Conversely if Israel went in as they could and should have, same rag would be talking genocide, disproportionate response, unfair….
Sorry not really related, but when I read stories of armies salting the ground to deny its use, the amount of salt needed would be enormous
Mining, transporting it, laying it…..
What people did and were able to do in the past, I find fascinating
More bull excretion from the bull known as the “Old Grey Lady”!
They did not say this when we fought Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan.
Maybe Hamas terrorists have saved enough supplies to last in the tunnels for a year. But at some point, they'll run out. Hamas is calculating that Israel will sign a ceasefire so Hamas will rearm and attack Israel again later.
No doubt about it. DESTROY Hamas!
If some hostages have to make the ultimate sacrifice, so be it! At least their suffering will be over.
War Crimes (hostage taking), put civilized people in difficult positions.
My response to that is to blame deaths of the hostages on the War Criminal (ham ass) who took them. Presume the hostages are dead at the hands of the War Criminals in yet another War Crime, and:
BOMB HAM ASS INTO SMITHEREENS!
Destroying ham ass is not enough.
Israel must permanently break the will of the palestinian people to ever wage war again.
That means Dresden, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Berlin levels of damage and utter defeat. Note that this has kept the Germans and Japanese placid.
A gang is not the same as a religiously motivated terrorist organization that is supported by the local population.
Your analogy fails.
If so, then Gaza will return to Hamas. Bibi gets overthrown from power. Hamas will rearm and attack Israel again in a couple of years. They believe that it is Allah's will to destroy Israel.
The long game is this. All the Jews will have to relocate from Israel. Hamas will conquer Israel. Time is on their side.
No one in the West (and that includes Israel) is capable of waging total war since WWII.
The best way is to “salt” the education and culture of anti-semetic hate. Every single teacher, preacher, journalist, mullah...anyone that supports the ideas of Hamas needs to take a helicopter ride out into the mediteranan sea.
Allow absolute privacy in getting any information of radicalization of muslims and kill them.
This “winning hearts and minds” has always been the spineless drivel and bullsh#t that cowards use when “fear” is 100%. Is it better to be loved than feared... It’s better to be “both” but if it comes down to one or the other ... fear is the trump card. everytime, all the time
Netanyahu is going to get removed. His own party hates him. He and his people deliberately refused to listen to warnings about what Hamas was planning.
As for the really long term, it really doesn’t matter that much. America needs to put its own interests first. Trump has it right about the shiftless Bibi.
For whatever reason, their "fence" is not more like South Korea. That's on Netanyahu. And there's no rapid reaction force outside Gaza. Even though Hamas is a known threat since the IDF moved out in 2005.
