U.N. Chief Guterres Scolds Netanyahu for Refusing Two-State Solution to Gaza War

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was publicly scolded Sunday by U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres after he twice refused to accept the imposition of a two-state solution as a path to ending the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

In his remarks, UPI reports Guterres said the rejection of “the right to full statehood for Palestine” is “unacceptable.”

“The right of the Palestinian people to build their own state must be recognized by all,” Guterres warned the Israeli leader.

The two-state solution, largely seen as a staple of foreign policy by U.S. administrations prior to President Donald Trump, has been lambasted by many critics – inside Israel and beyond.

There already is a two state solution. Palestine was divided in two at the very beginning: a sliver for the Jewish Palestinians, renamed “Israel”, and the rest for the Arab Palestinians renamed “Jordan”.

In any case, Hamas continues to reject any notion of a Jewish state. They reject any “two state solution” even if Israel accepts.

A "two state solution" won't do anything except see next.

I'd be tempted to give into the "two state solution." Let "Palestine" become it's own nation. Then when they attack Israel again, declare formal war and WIPE THE NEW PALESTINIAN STATE OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH. Because well that happens in war. After all the Palestinians are advocating that Isreal be wiped off the face of the Earth. Turnabout is fair play esp. in war.

Since 1947, the offer has been made 5 times and always refused. The reason for the refusals was because the offer did not include the total eradication of Israel.

Israel has been living with the results of the two state solution for decades now and come out on the losing end of it every time.

Granting statehood now would reward terrorism.

Besides, Gazan Arabs already had autonomy since 2005, and Jordan already is a Palestinian Arab state on land meant for the Jewish Homeland under the Balfour Declaration. Giving away more Jewish land for peace is never the answer.
