1970 a DUI was irrelevant.
Then with all these get tough on crime, save the children MADD activists and other junk we started lynching folks for this.
Automatic jail, unless it’s a politicians son/spouse, huge fines, public humiliation, loss of federal job and double jeopardy for federal/DOD employees, loss of license, criminal record, barring of future employment in some cases... And all that with USUALLY no one getting hurt nor an accident.
Everything in America is a fad.
HOW ABOUT NEW LAWS THAT SAY AUTOS CANNOT BE BUILT WITHOUT THE DRUNK DRIVER TUBE TO BLOW INTO SO CAR WILL START???
WHILE DRUNK DRIVING IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM-—MANY DRIVERS DO NOT DRINK AT ALL.
