A San Francisco bar has permanently shut its doors after the pandemic slashed business in the neighborhood and emptied out Downtown offices, the owner said.

The SoMa watering hole Bloodhound shut its doors for good on Thursday, according to co-owner Mike Goebel.

Goebel said that since reopening after a one-year closure during the pandemic from March 2020 to March 2021, sales have been down 70% compared with before the pandemic.

"The business wasn't making money," Goebel said. "The neighborhood is just so dead."

Legendary LGBTQ+ bar the Stud is slated to reopen on the same block at 1123-1125 Folsom St. after permanently closing its prior nearby location during the pandemic.

Well, at least the pickle smugglers will still have someplace to find their daily dose of promiscuity.

Newsom killed his business.

The so-called “pandemic” was a fraud Newsom helped perpetrate on the people of California.

Back in the early 80s visited Cafe Vesuvio - it still had remnants of the Beat Generation vibe to it.

Next door was Ferlinghetti’s City Lights bookstore, another remnant of that era.

Glad I visited SF back then, couldn’t pay me to go there now.

Related to San Francisco——

When the first film in the Death Wish series came out, the San Francisco TV station refused to air the network broadcast as the station brass said it promoted violence. The Chicago station also refused.

Quaint how stupid they were.

He could collect the feces on the streets, ferment it like they do in Africa, and be the first jenkem bar in San Francisco. The good liberals will love the ethnic flare of a good jenkem bar.

LOL.....New York had the legendary “Ramrod” gay bar. If you watch the YMCA village people video.....you can see it. Around the 2:40 mark.

Oh the glory days! And all that implies...

***permanently shut its doors after the pandemic slashed business***

I wish they could get this straight. It wasn’t the pandemic that destroyed their business but the stupid government imposed mandates and restrictions.

Place the blame where it belongs!!

I don’t see how he can blame the pandemic now. He should blame policies that allow crime and homelessness to keep patrons away, and policies that create high taxes, regulatory burdens and high rental and labor costs.
