The United Nations (UN) International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered Israel on Friday to take actions to ensure it does not commit genocide in the Gaza Strip.
South Africa brought a case before the ICJ in late December demanding Israel halt its counteroffensive against Hamas and accusing the country of committing genocide against the people in Gaza, an accusation that Israel vehemently denies, according to The Washington Post. The ICJ did not order a full ceasefire, but ruled that Israel must take immediate measures to prevent genocide, noting that there may be merit to South Africa’s accusations.
“In the court’s view, at least some of the acts and omissions alleged by South Africa to have been committed by Israel in Gaza appear to be capable of falling within the provisions of the [Genocide] convention,” the ICJ stated on Friday, according to the Post. “The court considers it cannot accede to Israel’s request that the case be removed from the list.”

The UN court, like everything else about the UN, is garbage.
The U.N. took an active role in Oct. 7 so I don’t think it has the moral authority to lecture anyone about genocide.
Might as well say “Stompy Feet People”.
“The massacre of 60,000 civilians by American and British bombers mostly took place between May and July 1944.”
“I was only vaguely aware of it until the chance discovery of a memorial plaque at the Metz train station listing the names of the victims. And they were all French, without a single German!”
“The planes were poorly equipped for honing in on their targets and were only effective in destroying large areas such as entire towns or industrial complexes, not single bridges or railway lines. [In the spring of 1944, only 29% of the bombs dropped on Europe by the Americans landed within 1,000 feet of their targets.] In fact, the U.S. Army Air Forces of the time was aware of its limits, and was totally opposed to this carpet-bombing technique. Winston Churchill was also against it, fearing that it would have serious, negative impacts on French morale and their future behavior towards the Allies. This dispute was brought all the way to Franklin Roosevelt. But the president entrusted the decision to Eisenhower, who threatened to resign if he was not provided with bombers.”

If there was ever any doubt that all International organizations are now haplessly, incompetent, corrupt and useless, this is it.
“poorly equipped for honing [sic] in on their targets”
It’s called high altitude bombing — and it accomplished its goal.
If a group of ten people were trying to kill me, I would not hesitate to put 10 bullets to use, killing every member of the group.
Ridiculous. Gaza is small and concentrated; if Israel wanted to commit genocide it would have done so, easily. But, it doesn’t want to; in fact, it is fighting this war with one hand tied behind its back, and the other in a sling.
So, the UN is once again talking nonsense.
“Well, I DEMAND THE u.n. GET THE HELL OUT OF MY COUNTRY AND REPAY ALL THE TAX MONIES WE’VE GIVEN SINCE INCEPTION.”
Ditto.
I demand the U.N. Court get their asses out of my country. We are a sovereign nation. Go back to your third world outhouses.
The IDF is working on preventing genocide.
But first, they have to wipe out hamas.
The United Nations saved us from having to fight a Gulf War, brought peace accords between Russia and Ukraine to avoid war starting there and brought peace to the Middle East so Israelis were safe from Hamas last year.🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞

SECRETARY BLINKEN: — there is a gap between the intent – there is a gap between the intent and the results, and that’s the gap that we’re trying to make sure is closed. Look, this could be over tomorrow. This could be over tomorrow if Hamas got out of the way of civilians instead of hiding behind them, if it put down its weapons, if it surrendered. And what there ought to be as well is a call on part – on behalf of the entire world for Hamas to do just that. That would stop this tomorrow. But in the absence of that, Israel has to take steps not only to defend itself against the ongoing attacks from Hamas, but against Hamas’s stated intent to repeat October 7th again and again if given the opportunity.
SECRETARY BLINKEN: We have been a strong proponent of humanitarian pauses. In fact, because of our advocacy, because of the work we did, we got pauses, we got pauses on a daily basis, to make sure that people could get out of the way, that humanitarian supplies could get in. We helped negotiate the longer pause that resulted in the release of more than 110 hostages and that also allowed a doubling of humanitarian assistance that was getting into Gaza. But when it comes to a ceasefire in this moment, with Hamas still alive, still intact – and again, with the stated intent of repeating October 7th again and again and again – that would simply perpetuate the problem.
And so our focus is on trying to make sure that civilians are protected to the maximum extent possible, that humanitarian assistance gets in to the maximum extent possible. And again, if Hamas were to put down its weapons tomorrow, surrender tomorrow, this would be over tomorrow.

Secretary Blinken replied:
First of all, Senator, I fully agree with you, that no country could tolerate what Israel suffered on October 7… And as we know, it wasn’t just the attack itself, and the vulnerability that it revealed, it was the nature of the attack; with young people chased down and gunned down at a at a dance party; with, as you said, children executed in front of their parents; parents executed in front of their children; families, in a final embrace, burned alive; people beheaded. I could go on. You’ve seen the pictures. You’ve seen the video.
I’ve heard from many eyewitnesses to these atrocities, including… a family of four, a young boy and girl, six and eight years old, and their parents, around the breakfast table. The father, his eye gouged out in front of his kids. The mother’s breast cut off. The girl’s foot, amputated. The boy’s fingers cut off, before they were executed. And then their executioners sat down and had a meal. That’s what this society is dealing with, and no nation could tolerate that.
And as we’ve said repeatedly, as President Biden has repeatedly made clear, Israel has not only the right, but the obligation to defend itself, and to try to take every possible step to make sure this doesn’t happen again. We’ve been equally clear, that it is vitally important how Israel does this. And the imperative of doing everything possible to protect civilians, as well as to care for those who are endangered by the conflict, is something that we feel strongly.
When it comes to a ceasefire, in this moment, you’re exactly right. That would simply consolidate what Hamas has been able to do, and allow it to remain where it is and potentially repeat what it did another day…
Israel should have Mossad present it’s arguments to The United Nations (UN) International Court of Justice (ICJ).
Waiting for Winkin and Nod to comment.
FU UNICJ.
ESAD.
I thought that was Hamasses job.
