Charles Fruit thinks Nikki Haley would make a good president. He thinks she did a good job as governor in South Carolina, and he was impressed with her work as United Nations ambassador during the Trump administration.
“She was just tough, and I like that,” the Mesquite, Nev., resident said. “She was common sense. She was well-spoken. She was respectable.”
That’s why Fruit was upset to learn that he couldn’t really help her become the Republican nominee.
Haley — the second most popular Republican candidate next to former President Donald Trump — is not participating in the Feb. 8 Nevada caucuses. Rather than pay the caucuses’ $55,000 fee, she opted back in October to join the state-run presidential preference primary, even though it means she will be awarded no Nevada delegates.
Her absence has frustrated her supporters in Nevada.
“There’s no point in participating in the caucus,” Fruit said. “I can’t vote for my candidate. They’re basically disenfranchising me. And this is happening by my own Republican party. I’m very unhappy about it.”
Fruit and other Haley supporters can vote for her in the primary, but their vote is wasted, since delegates are only awarded based on the results of the caucuses.
With only Trump and long-shot candidate Ryan Binkley left as the caucuscandidates, Fruit feels the system silences voters who want to vote for someone other than Trump.
“If you participate in the caucus, all you’re doing is supporting the anointing of Trump by the Nevada GOP, and I’m not OK with that,” Fruit said. He said he wishes the caucuses allowed write-in votes.
Las Vegas resident and lifelong Republican Thomas Kramer said he also feels the process has been rigged for Trump. He said he understands the Nevada GOP’s reasoning for the caucus — it claims mail-in voting is insecure — but he wishes the party embraced the primary that was already set up and paid for. He said the party should work to elect Republicans who could change the mail ballot laws.
“It feels like the guys that were complaining about an election being stolen are stealing an election,” he said.
Sit on it, Charlie Fruit.
Charles Fruit Loop!
Uh, her team knew the primary ballots gained them ZERO and the caucus was what determines gop delegates. Sorry, not sorry.
Third most popular.
The 2nd bowed out because the nation is under attack but Nikki doesn’t care as she’s part of the problem,
Democrats are upset they can’t vote for Nikita in the Nevada caucus.
Tough luck, Charlie Fruity.
Boo-hoo, Nikki Haley is a victim of a decision by someone named Nikki Haley.
Agree, definitely RIGGED for Trump. How else can Trump win when he’s only at 80% of the GOP vote?
I suppose fruitcake will be happier when nevaDUH switches to ranked choice voting before long.
It is my understanding that Nevada has had a caucus for many years. It was the state government that insisted there be a primary. The state government in Nevada is Democrat

The guy supports someone too stupid to know the difference between a primary and a caucus. She just thought she was sooooo smart.
“the state-run presidential preference primary”
The State and the AZGOP get $$paid$$.
No delegates? No matter.
We get money as long as a primary is held.
And, guess what....part of that will get sent to Nimrata by AZGOP and Ronna McBushCain.

Haley decided not to enter the caucus. What's the Republican party have to do with it?

maybe fruit and his buds could have ponied up the 55K to get nikki into the caucuses ...
apparently, even bozo long-shot candidate Ryan Binkley chucked the bucks to enter the caucus ...
but she’d be fine wi it if Trump was kicked off the ballot...
He’s a commie idiot no one ever accused commies of having brains
