Apparently there’s some type of relationship between the judge and her lawyer. Not familial, but professional.

Something about her working for him in the past or something to that effect.

He was described as a mentor to her in her early career.

They wroked at the same firm. Attorneys and judges go to brwkfast, lunch and supper together...and golf twice a week and support the 19th hole.
