I would prefer that all members of our military, would limit the number of ribbons, to 3, and the number of metal insignia (such as Surface Warfare, Wings, etc.) to 1.
Each member of the military, gets his/her choice re which ribbons to wear.

NO. Awards and decorations are earned over a career. They should be proudly displayed.
?
Why?
Because I now see members in uniform, who are age 21 - 24, with 3 rows plus, of ribbons. Much more, than decades ago.
Perhaps, too much Theater, Tour, and Participation Medals?
Most of the men I knew (almost all have passed away), if you asked, would tell you that 3 or so medals, were important to them, and their medals had an interesting history. These fellows often did not include some medals.
They would instead, only use:
Silver Star
Bronze Star with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters
Navy Cross
DFC
DSM
And their Wings - a single insignia. For examples.
Yet, my concern is not something that I would try to enforce; just a suggestion.
