Today, the Plaintiff (finally) rested their case — after 10 days, including jury selection, and four witnesses, to include Mann himself. The Plaintiff's last witness, Dr. John Abraham of the University of St. Thomas (Minnesota), was called as an expert witness. After a rigorous voir dire, Abraham was allowed to testify, but only as a fact witness. Which is really legal jargon for being Mann's BFF.
And how did putting Dr. Abraham on the stand work out for the Plaintiff? The below excerpts from the cross-examination (by the Defense and Mark), pretty much sum up Mann's entire case.
Excerpt One
Defense Council: "You've written that Dr. Mann is a hero, right?"
Abraham: "Yeah, I think I wrote he's a hero to his colleagues, something like that."
Defense Council: "Okay. Okay. And that's a good thing, isn't it?"
Abraham: "Yes, it is a good thing."
Excerpt Two
Defense Council: "Do you know what expert opinion is in a legal proceeding, Dr. Abraham?"
Abraham: "I'm not offering expert opinion on Dr. Mann's reputation."
Excerpt Three
Defense Council: "You're not aware of any other scientists who does [sic] not want to work with Dr. Mann, because of Mr. Simberg's or Mr. Steyn's blog posts; are you?
Abraham: "I am aware of people who were concerned, but no one said that they would not."

The thing I least like about Steyn is that he never misses an opportunity to piss on the U.S. Constitution. The thing I most like about him is that he puts his money where his mouth is.
I don’t think he’s pissing on the constitution. He’s pissing on the folks that ‘wave that constitution’ as if it means something anymore. It’s obvious that no one is abiding by the constitution. Not our senators & congressmen & not our courts & judges.
He is certainly angry, & I miss the times when he was more mellow & funny.
Our country is no longer guided by the Constitution. It is guided by civil rights law and Title IX.
If it took you 12 years to get to a trial to clear your name because of the legal tricks provided by {in part} the Constitution, you might want to piss on it also.
No sane person can believe that it is just to hide behind the law for 12 years before finally getting to trial.
Anyone {even an American citizen} would be pissed.

This is a very interesting case. I’m interested to see the outcome ad I hope we don’t have another kooky Leftist judge presiding. I’d feel better if this was being tried in the heartland.

Can you give a couple examples of that?
I've no doubt you're right, but it's not fair, and as a U.S. citizen it rubs me the wrong way. Sort of like someone calling your mother a whore because she was raped by a stranger.
