A group of teachers in Massachusetts remain on strike as schools in Newton, Massachusetts, have been closed for over a week and the striking teachers plan to gather at different bars and restaurants in the area.

The teachers are under fire for what an opponent of the strike, Fran Yerardi, described to a local Boston NBC News outlet as a "pub crawl," as they planned four events at different restaurants and bars in Newton.

"If you're not doing everything you can to put kids in school, you should be ashamed of yourselves," Yerardi told the media outlet.

Republicans should run on the issue of School Choice.

Granted, Massachusetts may not be the most fertile ground, but in all 50 states, a lot of citizens are fed up with government schools. Give us a choice. Allow us to use our tax money and choose a private or parochial school instead. Help us avoid the indoctrination.

The Teachers and the Teachers Unions vote Left already. If the Republicans campaign on the issue of School Choice, they will not lose anything. The Left will still vote Left. But ordinary people will sit up and say “Thanks. That’s an issue that hits home. I’m happy to be offered a choice.”

The GOP has nothing to lose. So ... why doesn’t the GOP push School Choice? Is it became the GOP is composed of Democrats? I think so.

“Republicans should run on the issue of School Choice.”

I totally agree. Many good teachers are ASHAMED of the teachers union.

The article stated: “It is illegal for teachers to strike in the state of Massachusetts. The NTA has previously faced court-imposed fines totaling $425,000 along with additional fees of $50,000 per day.”

One comment read: “The teachers in Newton already make $86,000 and they have extensive benefits. The average family with two earners in the U.S. makes $74,000 total on those two salaries.”

“”If you’re not doing everything you can to put kids in school, you should be ashamed of yourselves,” Yerardi told the media outlet.”

So the way to promote the education system to teach these kids is to try to destroy the educators personally? At that point Fran Yerardi is nothing but a terrorist trying to break down the kids education possibilities other than the truth.

Apologize typo:
President Reagan

BTW:
The Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization or PATCO was a United States trade union that operated from 1968 until its decertification in 1981 following an ILLEGAL STRIKE broken by the Reagan administration; in striking, the union violated 5 U.S.C. (Supp. III 1956) 118p (now 5 U.S.C. § 7311), which prohibits strikes by federal government employees.

Teachers have NO self-awareness or self-consciousness! Didn’t any of them think about the optics of this pub crawl while on strike? They should all be fired.

Strike is over, kids go back to school tomorrow. It’s against the law for teachers to strike here in MA but that doesn’t stop them. Their union leader is a real @ss.

So if you’re on strike you’re not allowed to have fun also? I mean as long as they didn’t turn their classrooms into the pubs I don’t really see how the strike and a couple pints have anything to do with each other.

Ah, the good ole days... in September 1978, Bridgeport’s public school teachers walked out rather than work without a contract, resulting in a rancorous 19-day strike in defiance of a court order and state law; 274 teachers were jailed,

Mass has a pretty vibrant Charter School system in place. There are four or five in our small group if cities. They can be pretty competitive.

Is this just optics? If there’s no contract, is there an obligation to negotiate a new one? Does the entire membership do that?

Along with running this as a campaign add lets include the vacationing corvid teachers in Chicago that used covid funds and fought hard to keep the schools closed indefinitely
