South Dakota governor Kristi Noem banished from tribal land over proposed border security maneuver
NY Post ^ | 2/04/24 | Ryan King

A South Dakota Indigenous tribe banished Republican Gov. Kristi Noem from setting foot on its land in protest of her administration mulling plans to dispatch resources to Texas to bolster border security.

Oglala Sioux Tribal President Frank Star blasted Noem for publicly musing about sending razor wire and personnel to the border, suggesting she was jockeying for the vice presidency.

“Due to the safety of the Oyate, effective immediately, you are hereby Banished from the homelands of the Oglala Sioux Tribe!” Star declared last Friday, using “Oyate,” a word that means nation.

Star, who noted the Oglala Sioux is a “sovereign nation that is neither a Democrat nor Republican tribe,” underscored that many of the migrants pouring across the southern border are Indigenous people looking for “jobs and a better life.”

“[They] don’t deserve to be dehumanized and mistreated by people like Governor [Abbott] and his cohorts,” he said.

Noem had addressed state lawmakers last Wednesday in which she said that the US is facing an “invasion” and warned that the Mexican drug cartels are “waging war against our nation.”

The 52-year-old Republican shrugged off Star’s banishment and admonishment of her.

“It is unfortunate that President (Star) Comes Out chose to bring politics into a discussion regarding the effects of our federal government’s failure to enforce federal laws at the southern border and on tribal lands,” she said in a statement.

Outside of their gambling dens, why would any sane white eyes want to set foot on those inner-cities-on-the-plains?

I would do vehicle checks at all roads leaving the casinos. She could really slow down access to the casinos

“Star, who noted the Oglala Sioux is a “sovereign nation...”

South Dakota should erect a border wall around this sovereign nation and cut off their state welfare benefits.

That is oversimplified-not correct-That line has been blurring for at least 500 years now due to Spaniards and Indians getting together/hooking up since Cortez and his merry band came ashore in Mexico in 1519 or so. I’m Hispanic, with Spanish ancestors that booked passage to the new world in the late 16th century. Along the way North over a couple 100 years they did what all non-noble Spaniards did-hook up/intermarry with Natives. Those of us of Mexican ancestry are all of mixed DNA now-aka Mestizos. There are very very few folks in mesoamerica who don’t have Spanish DNA...

Agree-That 1st Alaskans show is a trip into fiction. The Natives are also the only ones who can ignore the hunting rules that all other Alaskans have to abide by-some hunting license requirements, bag limits, etc. They have gotten preferential treatment ling enough-let’s see them use the same rules as others...

OK

No more welfare, no more healthcare, no more child support, no more crime investigation, etc.

we assume the Oglala Sioux Tribe will take in a few thousand (or more) “migrants”
…….so it’s time to get a one way bus route to their nation.

The Tribes have ruling families, not elections. Your tax dollars go to the ruling families, and what’s left after their deductions goes to their members - which should be just enough to keep them in alcohol and drugs until the next payments arrive.

The Tribes aren’t corrupt - its just the way they are run, since long before non-Indians arrived, including the Vikings.

So you are blaming some white people who came before the Vikings in the 10th century?
