London’s far-left Mayor Sadiq Khan is investing up to £150 million in Great Reset-style technology, which reportedly could be used to charge drivers in the city per mile they travel.
According to a series of Freedom of Information (FoI) requests from The Telegraph broadsheet, Transport for London (TfL) — at the direction of Mayor Khan — established a scheme to develop a “more sophisticated… new core technology platform for road-user charging”.
The scheme, dubbed “Project Detroit” in an apparent nod to the American automobile hub city hollowed out by decades of leftist governance and mismanagement, currently has 157 staff, some of whom are earning upwards of £100,000 per year. The paper reports that £21 million in taxpayer money has already been spent with the total cost slated to rise to “between £130 million to £150 million”.

When we switch from oil to whatever other energy the taxes that the government used to get from oil will need to be gotten from other sources
I am hearing that an application on your car will calculate the amount of driving you do and the government will tax you in that amount.

Yep. And it will be easy to do. Many states require some sort of annual auto inspection. All they’ve got to do is write down the mileage, do a little math, then send you a bill.
There are quite a few bridges in my state. There’s been some talk of putting a camera on each bridge. Cross a bridge, get a bill.
The taxing possibilities are darn near endless.

The UK has already mandated that all new EV’s shall have the ability to communicate with smart electric meters. It would be pretty easy to download the miles driven and a tax applied to that. It would also be easy to add a per kWh tax, similar to the current gasoline tax, for charging an EV.
The UK is long overdue for a bloody revolution.
